Shadowmarks(SPOILERS)

I have no idea if anyone else found this, but I was walking through the Guild's Ragged Flaggon and stumbled upon a book written by none other than Delvin Mallory. On my previous play, I did not discover this book. I was surprised to read it and find out that it is a guide to covert guild markings that can be found on the entrances to building indicating the situation inside and alerting other thieves to dangers or rewars that may by waiting. I have a whole new respect for Skyrim and see this another level of greatness the game has reached in my book by adding little such details. I am amazed at this. It fits completely with the Guild and tmodus operandi, I would definitely like to see a possible future DLC delve more deeply into this.

Basically the book begins with talking about the usage of these signs and their usual placement and how the practice began of leaving shadow Marks. From there, the book is a glossary of signs to look out for and their meaning. I mean if you look at even barrels, there are some marked with a signia identifying them as a thief cache, marks identifying random places throughout the Region as safe or dangerous, etc. A great though paid to detail in the game for certain.

I do however feel that while this is a great addition to the game that Bethesda could have exploited this and given the players who go down the path of the Thieves' Guild a chance to utilize in mission. For example( and this is just off the top of my head), in the SUmmerset SHadows mission, they could have done in a manner similar to the trailing and killing of Gaius Maro. It would have been cooler if Niranye had knowledge of Linwe's movements, but did not know where the guild was holed up; so you would have to get to a location by a certain day and time, place a signia on a building(a fort or ruin or something) identifying it is a place that houses considerable wealth thus luring him in. At the point, you have to sneak about, kill some draugrs or sneak by them as Linwe has done, track him down, kill him, and then loot him for everything including a map of the location of their hideout. Then you can go their and optionally destroy the banner. Just thinking off the top of the head.

What do the rest of you guys think about this? Did you guys also find the book and feel although it did add a great element to the game that it could have been explored more and players given the opportunity to use it? Or even like in FO3, how you could bring map updates to RIley of the Rangers and get money for it, you could make extra coin by discovering and marking places of wealth, danger, etc, for the Guild and make some coin(as Delvin is found of saying).

I like the idea of it, searching for marks is an interesting addition to the game. I found marks before I found the book which I though was even more appealing since it all came together.

I liked it, after all it is the little things that sometimes make a game worth playing. I couldn't care less if they added on to it, but it definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.

Funny thing is I've only stumbled across one thief guilds cache in Markath, and I can't remember what all those marks mean on shops. And they thought I was good enough to be a Guildmaster. Gees.
