Thieves Guild how to become the boss

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:14 pm

Hi

Can anyone please explain to me how I make just enough jobs in order to become a TG-master? I saw that there are over 50 of each job (or something like that), but I've heard that I only need to make 5 of each in order to get a special job which will lead toward the final quest.

Thanks in advance

You only need to complete 5 of any job (altogether not 5 of each) in any one of the main holds (besides Riften, so Whiterun, Windhelm, Markarth, and Solitude). After that, Delvin will give you a special job in that city. Complete all 4 of these to become Guild Master. So, not counting the special jobs, you only need to do 20.

A great way to do it is to save in front of Delvin and Vex and keep reloading till you get a job in the city you want. Try and get the two of them to match up, so you can double your efficiency.

You can decline a job right after you've taken it, at no penalty. The sour comments are only for show

e: Yeah, that part is grindy and not very fun.

Actually, there is a penalty... Your quest log becomes bloated. I prefer to save/reload because of that.

As for the Grindy aspect, I actually like this in the Thieves guild, if only we could pick which hold we want to do jobs in...... That really makes it a thousandfold more irritating. But these minor jobs and the resulting guild rebirth makes the Thieves Guild feel like the only real "guild"...

The plus side to the grind is you make soom good coin while you're at it. If you have a wife @ home, you pick up a TON of gold from her when you're done fast traveling back and forth from all the cities.

As Fleapants said, you don't get any significant penalty, only the failed quest log in your quest history. Small price to pay for the sweet gear you get upon completion.

I also love knowing that when I return to the Flagon after a few in-game weeks after the questline completion, I will a lways return as the BOSS of that joint. This quest is very long and difficult, and the only one for me that felt like I really had to earn my status as Boss.
