Better way to sell loot?

My gear weighs about 170. All my loot when playing will come up to about 520.

I used to go to a variety of merchants and sell stuff, but that started taking up too much time.

I now just go to the brewery southeast of whiterun and sell to thieves guild merchant. I have gear that gives me +60% better prices. After selling loot, I wait 48 hours in front of him and repeat. This process takes about 30 -40 minutes, as I stopped picking up low end items and only sell high ticket gear.

This has gotten so unbearable after playing the game for 120+ hours. The process could take 5 minutes, but merchants are capped at 1k gold.

Is there a faster way to sell gear? I know about the perk to give all merchants an extra 1k gold, but it just isn't worth it as it cost too many perk points to get.

Is there a glitch or something? This really really slows down the game, IMO.

Thanks for reading.

What's all this about?

Can you fill me in. Bit more? What does investing with him do? Will he sell all my loot? If so that is awesome and i thank you!

Getting Fences by completeing the TG seems to be the best conventional in game method. Even if you max your Speech Perk out and invest in Merchants, the TG fences stiil have more gold in their inventory and respawn gold every 24 hours or so.

Also you can hit "t" to wait pretty much instantly(on pc), instead of standing their and waiting. Like the fast travel system. I'm not sure if there is an in-game name for it though, so I'll just call it fast wait.

The Warmaiden smith in Whiterun has 1100 gold, the guy inside her store a little over 1100. So, all weapons/armor I sell to them.

Any other item goes to the regular traders. I jump from Whiterun to 3 other towns (most also have smiths in case you need more than 2200 gold in Whiterun). Usually do the entire thing in about 20 minutes or less. Sometimes I get a bed in an Inn and stay the night if I get there at a bad time.

My primary character hit 150,000 gold today, and now I only sell rings/amulets type of stuff, because most of them sell for about 550 gold or higher. I pickup very few items now.

My other two characters have about 45,000 each and I plan not to pickup anything else, except items I disenchant. I was anol about money and got carried away on my first character - just had to slow down and/or stop. I make plenty of gold from chests, and urns in dungeons, and some quests.

Good luck.

I got about 70k and I think I'm about done picking up stuff now. Unless its really awesome. I just read up on some glitch with a merchant after you get the investor perk. Would be nice if merchants could carry about 3k .... I have several items that nobody can afford unless I get ultimate perk. The way it is now can get tedious after a while.

Thanks for advice everyone.

Doing 3-way fast-travel between Whiterun, Solitude, and Markarth pretty much makes the merchants restock their gold by the time you come back around. If you're an enchanter, make a suit of equipment with +carry weight, and wear it with the thieves' guild +carry weight armor for maximum loot capacity. You can also make carry weight equipment for your follower to increase thier mule capacity as well. And don't forget to perk up your armor to the "weighs nothing" level as well.

If you've been playing a character for 120 hours the odds are you have all the gold you will ever need anyway. At about 30~ hours into a character I stop looting everything besides quest items, potions and ingredients.

99% of the stuff you pick up is vendor trash so simply stop picking so much stuff up.

the only thing i do is collect ingredients for gear like pelts and ingots and ore. i then craft stuff, enchant it with any soulgems i found along the way (i collect those as i find them as well) and then sell them in a similar fashion to what someone else posted about going from town to town. except that i use the wagons and i use a companion to haul anything that i cant carry myself.
