Just hit 300 hours!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:30 pm

Well, they weren't lying when they said 300+ hour game.
I've been doing a systmatic exploration of the world rather than follow quests to their destination. Have completely stayed away from most of the main quest and am now working on the civil war quests for the Imperial side since they all take places in areas I've already been. I still have Falkreath and the Reach to completely explore. Since niether of those areas will change much due to the civil war I don't feel like I'll be missing out much on a "before/after" view of those areas.

Some stats so far
Level 74.
269 locations discoverd,
150 dungeons cleared,
235 days passed
71 quests completed
224 misc objectives completed
24 side quests
824811 Gold Found
169723 Gold carried at one time.

I only own one house so far as quests bugginess prevented me from getting the house in Riften, I'll be able to get that after I complete the civil war quest though hopefully.. and a few other houses.
Never owned a horse and haven't got married. Figure I'll do those two things when I've done all I can and my character can settled down and live out her days .

Not bad. I hit that mark around 2-3 weeks ago.
You have found much more gold than I have on my travels though. And I haven't completed nearly as many dungeons. kudos

Is that 300 game hours (as in the number of hours stated on the save file) or 300 play hours (as in number of hours stated on Stream).

My complete-everything min-max Sauron-armor-clad duel-wielding warrior only manages 250 game hours before exhausting all content.

My little Mage is only 60 game hours in and is already 50 level, archmage and legate.

So either I'm burning it too fast or you are doing it too slow.

Total play time is 450 hours by the way, that means I reload alot or afk often or went on unsaved kill sprees too often. (Actually it is staging NPC battles)

Save game hours.. no idea what stream hours are. I'm playing on the xbox. I haven't used any exploitable skills to their exploitations so I'm sure I've leveled a lot slower than others. Meaning I didn't stand around and craft items unless I needed them, or cast spells unless they were necessary. It makes things like Restoration and Alteration amazingly hard to level. I also didn't put any perky points in smithing or enchanting.. just alchemy (since my character is a female wood elf assissn thiefy type. ) I've spent perk points on Archery, Sneak, One Handed. Put some in lockpick, speech, pickpocket and alchemy.

Now that I'm using skills to level my character that have nothing to do with theiving just to put perk points into my thieving skills the game does feel a bit off. "hey, I just leveld destruction.. that'll help my lockpick skill." I also don't have a perk point in master lockpicking yet and am slightly disappointed that my 100 lockpick skill seems to have nothing to do with the difficulty of the lock. Master locks still break my lockpick in one wrong turn. Lockpicking perks seem almost necessary and not very perky at all.

Well done young grasshopper. I will never level past 50 though because that's when monsters stop scaling with you.

Well not entirely true, some mercenaries will scale to 60. You are also more likely to get the more advanced version of enemies as you progress past 50, bandit leaders, ancient dragons etc.

I'm amazed you have the self-discipline to have just been playing in those areas for 300 hours.

I love the reach. Some of my best screenshots are taken from the fortresses and the tops of the hills in the Reach. Recommended activiites also include shouting forsworn of the tops of cliffs and jumping from high places into rivers :goodjob:

That's a lot more than me. I ran out of things to do long time ago . I do have one thing I haven't done, which is to
Spoiler
beat Anise's Archery challenge. I just can't seem to hit all targets within 10 seconds.

450 That's actual time playing it and not the timeslogged by my chars, because that doesnt take into account the times I've died.

Not really discipline.. I totally still feel like I'm playing a linear storyline somehow. It's just my story includes a big ol' load of exploration. I'm going to the areas that quests lead me too.. I just fully explore an area before moving on.. which means I gain more quests that lead me to different areas.
I think my pattern was, Whiterun, Hjaalmarch, The Pale, Eastmarch, Riften, Winterhold, Haafinger.. Next I'll do the Reach and then end on Falkreath and then pick the main quest back up in Riverwood with the Blades. It'll probably take me awhile yet.. my play time has slowed down quite a bit.

Oh.. I see what you mean. Actual hours played because of dying, restarting and stuff. I have no idea. I restarted quests a few time because of bugaboos and have died billions of times over. I'm glad I decided not to play a dead is dead game. I wouldn't have gotten very far. No telling how many times I've died from just falling off stuff. I'm an oversaver though so I've never had to go back too far. Maybe half an hour at the most.
One of the amazing things so far is I have yet to get stuck in scenery. In every Beth game up to now I have always accidentally found something to get stuck in and had to re-load.
