Spoiler show button not working?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 4:00 pm

When people post spoilers and there is a show button, I click it and it does not show or work. I just click it and nothing happens. Why is this? I would like to read what they have hidden behind that button. It must be glitched! lol

Do you have the latest browser version and/or Java version? I suspect it's just an HTML thing, but it could be JavaScript.

Although I was running Firefox 4.x until recently and it always worked fine. :P

It's completely possible the person who wrote the spoiler didn't use the markup correctly.

That's possible, but I've seen him mention issues in threads wherein they all worked fine for me.

I tested this in IE/Firefox/Chrome and they all work just fine. Do you have JavaScript disabled, either by add-on or setting, perhaps?

NoScript will prevent it from working if whatever it is that controls that button(javascript?) is "forbidden".

Java is up to date. Tried it with IE and it worked! Why doesn't it work with Chrome?

Yeah, jut try to get away from Java. I run NoScript on FF11.0 and I have to enable Java on pretty much every single page I visit or else they don't render properly... or at all. Java is everywhere.

According to NoScript, this page wants to connect you to gamesas.com, zenimax.com, and google-anolytics.com. The last one is just a data-miner (the all seeing-eye of the Google juggernaut).
If I disable zenimax, the spoilers won't show. If I disable gamesas, I lose the spoilers, the multiquote button, and quick reply. Plus I get a big ugly red banner across the screen admonishing me for not using Java.

Your question doesn't make sense. JavaScript is part of the webpage, and you decide whether or not your web browser should run it.

It has nothing to do with whether or not you have Java installed on your computer. Java is a plugin like Flash that is typically used for games embedded into webpages.

Yes and no. You can't interact with the Java scripts on a webpage if you don't have Java on your system.
There was a security alert on FF a few days ago regarding Java. In fact, FF disabled Java until I upgraded my Java version.
http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp to see if you have the latest version of Java installed. Make sure you do it in Chrome since that's where you are having trouble.

Incidentally, in Chrome, go to Settings>Under the hood>Content settings and see if Java content is enabled or add an exception for gamesas.com and zenimax.com
