I get their filthy disease every time one of those creatures even sneezes. Can't be too difficult.

I do think it's the drain spell, because I've gotten infected even when remaining at range.

Same here. I was hit once with some spell from an otherwise flawless victory when returning that dog to it's demon master. And then shortly a message told me that something happened due to day/night.

To contract vampirism, talk to Stephenie Meyer. You'll know when you start to dazzel.

Or when you start violently bashing your head into concrete after spending 10 minutes talking to her.

The best way is from Laelette the Vampire in the side quest "Laid To Rest", which takes place in Morthal. You contract it almost instantaneously from her, and she's an easy kill. You can contract it from any of the others, but you're also risking dying many times.

Go to Haemar's Shame, set difficulty to Novice, and let the vampires attack you until you catch it. You might want to take health potions just in case.

I'm also fond of North Shriekwind Bastion just NW of Falkreath. There's only two Vampires in there; The first being a low-level one just inside the entrance to the dungeon, the second Vampire is a Master Vampire alllllllllll the way at the end of the dungeon.

Since you can only catch the disease when a Vampire uses their "life-drain" effect (and it's only a 10% chance per use by the Vampire), I usuall save just after entering the dungeon. Then I run forward and let the Vamp hit me with it's red death ray, and if I don't get the message saying I contracted it, I'll put a wall between me and the Vampire to break the stream of the Vampire's power. Then I reemerge and let it use it on me again, repeat until you get sick. lol

If this method seems like it isn't working, then just reload from the save I had you make earlier and try again until you get it. ;)

Who is that, and what is dazzel?

I believe she's the one that wrote the Twilight series and I believe "dazzel" refers to the nonsensical sparkling that occurs with the Twilight vampires when they're in sunlight.

Why do people believe that the only way to contract vampirism is through their vampiric drain spell?

That is NOT true. You can contract vampirism from melee attacks from a vampire, trust me that is what happened to me.
