Firstly, I doubt that this gaming style would be very entertaining, but this is up to you, of course.

Secondly, I don't understand why healing spells and illusion buff spells are forbidden, while you're absolutely allowed to tell your follower to kill something.

And finally: do you realize that you'll be blocked out of various areas that are blocked with the more solid types of spider webs? You can't tell your follower to cut them down, you are not allowed to use magic or a weapon to remove them, so... gg.

Its only an action game if you play it as such. This is fairly easy to do, if you don't mind not being 'normal'. There are plenty of passtimes in the 'world'. Chopping wood, smithing, fishing, gathering and making alchemy products, picking crops for farmers, collecting books, exploring nature, doing none-combat quests, ect. And if push comes to shove, make your wife/husband choice an adventurer - they will do any fighting for you. The game is designed to cater to any sort of player. I certainly plan to make a peasant character - though I will eventually cave and have them become Dragonborn.

And all this is without mods.

To say 'But its an action gaem! You is supposed to hit thinsg1' is a pretty shallow take on all the work put into Skyrim.

That's fine. You play the way that you wanna play and it's no one else's business. But I have to wonder if maybe there's a better game out there for you that's based on doing stuff like that. All the fishing, collecting, etc. are things that flesh out the game in order to contribute to its scope and feel. But by themselves, they're not really much more than Farmville. And in fulfilling that specific role, Farmville does a better job.

Actually, playing Skyrim 'peacefully' is rather fun. Access to magic is a must, though. I'd go nuts if my only recourse in hostile encounters was to run until my lungs gave out. Just spam Calm and Fear spells, crank up that Restoration and you'll be fine. I've got an Argonian hippie who just meanders through life tripping balls on Sleeping Tree Sap and turning rabid wolves into sweet little puppies. (Wolves are actually kinda cute when they're not trying to tear out your jugular. Who woulda thunkit?) It can be fun to find creative, nonviolent ways to solve situations instead of just charging in like a barbarian and mowing everyone down all the time. It's not a matter of turning Skyrim into Farmville: playing as a dedicated pacifist is just another way to experience a great game.

The problem is OP wants to roleplay ~~an incompetent~~ a "peaceful" character that will never, ever use anything in combat, but rather rely on somebody else to do the job

I have to say it again, though, it works better if you roleplay an incompetent instead of a peaceful guy with his setup

So you are asking followers to kill for you. It's like holding the weapon yourself. If someone attacks you have the right to defend yourself. Playing in a more peaceful way is to use a lot of invisibility to avoid all kind of animals and human beings not too aggressive like giants, bandits, marauders. The most aggressives are necromancers, conjurers, etc. Even Draugr sometime try to escape when you fight them. Only their bosses are to be killed...
Anyway it's a game where the hero has to kill before achieving his mission.. :biggrin:

I'll use followers in self defence, not to clear dungeons

But, yes, I agree, it's not a truly pacifist build.

It's possible to play the "don't get my hands dirty" type game with maxed conj and illusion. But taking no offensive ability? This game wasn't designed AT ALL for that. Persuasion/speechcraft is not at all fleshed out enough to use to complete many quests.

It would also be possible to play a weaponless game if you got punching perks and disenchanted h2h gloves and put the enchantment on some heavy gloves.

But don't bother if you aren't going to produce offense in this game.

No, bows are not melee weapons. Unless you run out of arrows and just beat people to death with them. Then its a melee weapon.

On topic - a pacifist RP sounds kind of dull to me personally. Unless there was a way to get a job somewhere in Skyrim as a chef. That would be fun for a while. As long as I had enough leeks to make my world famous deer stew.

The closest I can come to that is, I wont kill it if it does not attack me, so most bunnies are safe.
