Question about the Thieves Guild...

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:56 pm

I want to play a non-combatant thief but I was wondering if it is possible to finish the Thieves Guild's quests with this type of character?

I doubt it...the Thieves Guild has a curious amount of "mercenary" work. Which is cool, but it's not really good for characters who want a pure thief.

If you're crafty enough yes. I've played through so far and I've had a few 'rough' this person up kinda quest, but killing is prohibited by the TG. The guild has a lot more of a ruggid feel to it than Oblivion/Morrowind but I've enjoyed it. From what I've heard you maybe have to kill at most one person.

Edit: Kinda misread. There is certainly some combat but nothing really in cold blood or killing.

Another question: does the guild actually improve noticeably if you do enough quests? Probably a common inquiry, so sorry in advance about that.

I haven't gone too far in but I heard it really does flourish later on and is one of the most enjoyable Guilds in Skyrim. Again just what I've heard.

I've enjoyed the mission arch so far. Much better than the Companions. But I don't use fast travel so I just want to know if it's worth doing all the missions for Vex and Delvin.

Spoiler
Once you do so many side missions in city, you get a Special Mission for that city. Once you do that, you gain a fence AND gain a merchant at the hideout. For a total of four more fences (one for each city you complete the jobs in) and four more merchants at the TG HQ.. Plus, unless you rebuild them completely, you don't officially become guild Master.

The side quests for the thieves guild are mainly all the kind of thing your looking for and they tell you not to kill anyone while doing them. But by following the main thief story line you get some cool stuff along the way. So I don't know if your not bothered about that side of things

Sweet. I guess I'll keep working them into my travels. Got to head to Markarth is all, and that's a long way out of my way. Might just go do the drinking contest.

The namby-pamby Robin-Hood-wannabes of Cyrodiil prohibited killing in Oblivion, but the mobsters of Skyrim have no such compunctions. They don't generally require you to kill people and they try to avoid stepping on the Dark Brotherhood's toes by discouraging you from killing unnecessarily, but nobody actually cares if you do.

Unless you kill another Guild member, of course - that requires you to whine to Vex about "how will I ever come up with 1,000 gold to pay off the Guild?" even if you have a million coins burning a hole in your pocket...
