Illusion Tree

Um... you can self enchant to make a school of magic free to cast, with the 100 perk, make that 2 schools of magic. It just takes some serious investment to get to where the enchants equal what you find in game.
Yeah, if you max out enchanting and get the 100 perk, it seems a bit overpowered because of the ability to make magic free to cast for two schools -- not sure I would enjoy that much cause it seems too "cheap."

When I said you cannot enchant robes as good as the ones you can find, I was referring to that bug affecting the enchanting effect for reduce magicka cost/increase magicka regeneration speed enchantment that reduces the base magicka regen increase to 10%, which is useless. I think they accidently left off a decimal point, which will hopefully be fixed in future patch.

Enchanting seems overpowered with the 100 perk but somewhat underpowered at mid levels.

Illusion is probably my favorite school this time around. Definitely recommend all the perks.

illusion is so strong, you dont even need health points or armor, just run around invisible and use things like frenzy or calm and sneak attacks

I am not sure how fun that would be, I mean sure, for an hour or two it would be entertaining, but I don't think I could play that way for too long. My main character is a Khajiit with the 100 sneak perk and backstabbing and smithing perked to Elvish. He can one hit kill almost anything by tapping the sneak button and executing a quick dagger slash for the 15x damage bonus. You get some cool animations, but after a while it was too easy and I started using swords instead of daggers and keeping my fingers off the sneak button.

All the perks in illusion are useful. It is one of the few skills that does not have any "useless" perks. If you wanted to cut one, the master perk is one that you can easily live without.

Of all the magic schools, I think Illusion is the most fun.

You can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it, especially with assassination missions.

If your assassination target is a weak civilian in the middle of a town with guards, you can sneak to an area that you will remain hidden and snipe your target with a frenzy spell, the entire town will murder them for you and you will get credit.

I have pickpocketed iron daggers off people standing near my target, poisoned the daggers and replaced them. Then I cast fury on my target and they got punctured by poisoned weapons.

There are really awesome combos too!

Cast frenzy a group then FUS RO DAH! when they turn after you, when they get up they will be far away from you and fight each other, then KRII! (Marked for Death) will help them kill each other faster.

Illusion is one of the few schools that is MORE useful on higher difficulties, especially master. The only other one I know of offhand is conjuration.

I play a majority of the game with fear in my left hand and frenzy in my right, undead minion in tow.

It is fun to be The Puppet Master.

Frenzy causes enemies to kill each other. Fear can drive them into traps, off cliffs, into other monsters (I herded an army of snow bears into a dragon nest with it once).

Technically, potions can achieve all the effects though (Except Calm?). There's invisibility and fortify sneak potions, and frenzy and fear poison.

Sweet! Gotta try doing something like that with animals. Question though? Can the potion versions be as powerful as the magic versions and effect enemies with levels of 50+?
