Living in the wilds

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:45 am

I would like my char to live outside towns. Are there any caves/shacks that can be "squatted" in where items could be left and a home could be set up?

I think (just as oblivion) if yu leave your junk in a random box it will vanish eventually. So keep your stuff in a breezehome and just explore using alchemist shacks and hunter camps as shelter

It would have been nice if I could "set" a cleared area like a cave as a camp. Broken Fang cave, for example, is very nice. It has beds, an alchemy lab and arcane enchanter, chests, bookcases and even a prison cage. It is also in a very nice position in the map and a nice gloomy atmosphere. I would have liked to be able to live there with one of my characters. I can practically do it as it is now but I can't leave my loot (it would vanish).

Alchemists shack is a good one - it's just outside of Ivarstead, and the bedside table can be used as safe storage. I'd check the UESP article, however, just to make sure I'm correct!

Anise's cabin is excellent. I is secluded, has a bed you can sleep in and a basemant with a satchel that does not respawn, an alchemy table and an enchanting table. All you have to do is dispose of it's easy-to-kill witch. This is alwys the first thing I do with a new character, and this serves as my home for a very long time.

Here is some information that might help.

There are places that respawn but still have safe storage, like Lund’s Hut. Good luck house hunting!

There may be multiple shacks with alchemy stations, but I suspect that most of us mean the building called Alchemist’s Shack, located near Ivarstead. Since we are discussing safe storage, it’s an important distinction.

Both of the ones i named are called Alchemist's shack. Go to riverwood, cross the bridge and check the compass for a house symbol

Hmm. Is it possible that you mean Anise’s Cabin? The one with an arcane enchanter and alchemy lab in the basemant, accessed by a trapdoor.

I hope there's another one that I've missed. That's a great area.

Yeah, whatever brochacho. I have a few of those encyclopedias myself and your name appears under the "little kid throwing a temper-tantrum" entry. You were wrong. You don't have to like it but don't make an ass out of yourself. Let this be a learning moment for you, my son.

This is what I want to do with a character I have in mind, a trader who doesn't do bounty-hunting for Jarls to become a Thane to get a home. I'd like it to be fairly simple with lots of storage and the crafting stations, not a castle or anything. I'll have to see what mods are like that. :tes:

I believe that's called a "mother-in-law" room. :lmao:

I've been fiddling with my cabin on Lake Ilinalta for some time, still need to finish the basemant and there's a corner upstairs that has me baffled. But outside, on a patio overlooking the lake, there's an anvil, workbench, tanning rack, as well as a table and chairs for dining alfresco. In the basemant is an arcane enchanter and alchemy workbench, a counter with individually labeled sacks for various types of reagents. I also put categorized lockboxes for each type of soul gem. And so far I have five bookcases with space for 336 books. I think I need more, lol. :read:
