Weaponry releated questions

Hello

I am new to these forums and have played Skyrim so far for only some +30 hours. There are some weaponry releated questions I like to ask (probably discussed many times already, but sorry couldn't find such topics in quick search);

- I play as archer can I use fire arrows at some point? What I mean is can an arrow be set to fire from a torch or other source of fire and when fired it will light it's surroundings? This would be neat when shot a arrow in dark tunnel or up in the night sky. Also enemies could be set on fire a far and oil pools etc. easily flamable material. I used to love fire arrows in Thief: Dark Project some 15 years ago. To lit torches with fire arrows and when shot in dark hallways and such would reveal possible enemies hiding in the dark when fire arrow passes them. Water arrows to take out torches and poison arrows to kill enemies without them ever even seeing you would be fun too.

- Is it possible to make own arrows? Feathers from a bird (or other creatures), wood and metal crafted to arrows. Add poison and other effects to arrowhead via Alchemy.

- Are there any crossbows in the game? Used to love them in Morrowind. Uses bolts and is more powerful than a bow but slower to use.

- Any other "missile" weapons? Throwing knives, stars or javelins?

- Where are all spears, halberds, tridents and flails?

I have liked the game so far, but these small but essential things would really make my playing experience much more fun.

Cheers

No, to all of them unfortunately. But those are some damn cool ideas.

Edit: Actually i think theres a perk which can sometimes make you shoot a flaming arrow. But no way near as cool as what you've described.

Of all things you listed, only this one is possible. There's a mod that allows you to craft arrows. And in vanilla game, you can poison your arrows with various effect: health damage, magicka damage, paralyze etc.

It would be nice if in the DLC they added the ability to craft your own arrows, it could still fall under smithing really (maybe could make them in blocks of 10). Also it would be nice to be able to enchant arrows maybe with some Area Affect Enchanments, not sure how that would work if you have a bow that does frost damage and an arrow that makes a firey explosion though. I guess the best way would be to just have the arrow effect override the bow effect. That way you could carry specific arrow types for combat situations, nothing worse than seeing a frost troll at a distance and to have to whip out your bow of frost, if I had fire arrows then I could just hit him with those.

are you on PC?

all will be added through mods, they normally are.

this is the major for me this should of been included while everything else you mentioned aswell would be nice.

in morrowind though they caused more problems than they solved (spear animations where horrible) and they have so far not sought to re-implement them which to me doesnt make a blind bit of difference.

anyway what i was going to say is there will be a mod for fletching and poisioning arrows there always is, normally called ''Fletching'' or something and trust me the mod is better than any system Beth would probably implement.

Shame :(
Hopefully all these will be added later in DLC's or expansion packs. Can't see any good reason why, for example, crossbows and spears were left out. There used to be flails already back in Arena ages ago and those ruled. Can't understand why they have been left out ever since.

Yeah, exactly. Wide range of different arrows (effects) would be great. I think it a little bit silly to have the enchantment in a bow rather than in the arrows. Though I think they could make it to work in both. Just need to make fire and other arrow animations.

Yes on PC. Bought Skyrim in Christmas so haven't had chance to check out any mods yet, but Fletching mod is first to go. Looking forward for the rest

You can learn enchanting and make your bow give you fire damage. It's not theoretically in the arrows, but the effect is the same. You fire your bow, the arrow hits, arrow and fire damage results. No to the rest as far as I know, though there are magic ranged attacks, including bound bow which is essentially a magic spell that gives you a bow. And there are shouts which are ranged (fire breath for instance).
