The Hunnic Empire had conquered most of Europe, only the Republic of Ragusa remained. In 1039 A.D. the Huns attacked the Republic of Ragusa's capital, Dubrovnik, one of the most heavily fortified cities in the world. The Ragusans fought valiantly and beat back the Huns. The Battle of Dubrovnik was a Hunnic defeat and utter failure. Upon hearing of the defeat Attila the Hun fell on his sword, killing himself. The Ragusans launched a counter-attack. The uncivilized authoritarian Hunnic Empire lost more and more land. By 1045 A.D. the Huns had lost all their land in Russia and the Ragusans were at the gates of the last Hunnic stronghold. The battle begun and the Hunnic Empire fell at last.
