Min-Maxers: How Do You Stay Entertained in Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:13 pm

For those of you who go for either the 29% enchantment or 46% enchantment (around 46ish for Necromage), how do you stay entertained when you can kill literally everything in 1-2 hits?

Just curious, cause my friend is running into some trouble with this and I thought I'd find out an answer.

I'm OK with killing everything in 1-2 hits as long as I've earned it on at least one character. The key to my being OPed is my gear so if I got bored I would just use lesser armor and weapons.

Extreme mods, i want this to get as close to difficulty as dark souls as i can get it, until august!!

-600% value on selling items and 300% increased buying price makes things ery much more difficult. (for one)

-WIS- the hard setting
-skyrim monster mod- uncaps some things and gives new deadly variations on enemies.
Rare potions.
I dont use the falmer helmet trick, or the restoration loop, or any other thing that is IMO exploitive.
-darker dungeons.

There are more, but difficulty is the idea.

I stay entertained by playing Dead-is-Dead on Master. I also cut the coefficient used in the armor rating equation in half, which means I need a much higher rating to hit the cap; in fact, I can only do so using the better materials and multiple armor perks, which means that some of my characters are in real danger of being 1-2 shot themselves if they miss.

I playthrough "normally" once just to see how things go, then I playthrough a second time to try and max everything out. These first two playthroughs usually have a bout a 1/2 dozen "false starts" and do-overs before I see them through to completion. Then I playthrough a "final" time to max everything out and avoid the mistakes and missed opportunities from my previous playthroughs (the "perfect" playthrough). During my final ("optimized") playthrough I collect things, run up my stats, and try to uncover and understand all the secrets, nuances, and details of the game.

I stopped using enchanting completely. Much more fun playing now, even thought my characters die. But that's the point of the game isn't it?

Enchanting is something that I'm probably going to use only if it makes sense RP-wise for all my future characters. It's awesome, don't get me wrong, but things get extremely easy extremely quickly. Even on Master, I can swipe at an Ancient Dragon like eight times and it'll go down since my daggers are enchanted to hell and back.
