More Questions About Vampirism

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:09 am

Ok so I have now started a breton vampire character still only level 1 and although there are a lot of helpful tips on here I still have a few questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Skin burning. Does this happen on all stages of vampirism? And after how long of being in sunlight do the burns appear? If I run from an inn to a shop on stage 1 will my vampire be scarred for life? If so this possess the question where to sell my loot except TG?

I am planning to get the Ring of Namira, will feeding having this item equipped still restore me to stage 1 or will I get the bonus from feeding and still increase stages?

I am planning to get the neromage perk and make this character a spellsword, using specific restoration, destruction, conjuration, illusion, onehanded and possibly sneak skill trees.

Are there any other items or perks that will improve my experience as vampire?

I've worm full armor and Tavern Clothes on my vampires, and I've honestly never noticed skin burning at all. I don't think that's a thing that happens unless I'm REALLY unobservant.

You can only use the Ring of Namira on dead bodies. You can't feed on corpses to quench your vampiric thirst. So the two are unrelated.

Resist Fire is really helpful since on higher difficulties, the fire breath from a dragon is a sure way to get one-shot. I usually have a follower around as a pack mule, but they're also good for feeding purposes since you can direct them to sleep on a bed then feed on them. And if you don't want to foray into Enchanting, getting The Gauldur Amulet helps with the health/magicka/stamina debuffs in the sunlight but that questline is kind of a total pain.

And for standing Stones, I'd go with The Lord to help with the fire resist or The Lady to combat the regen debuffs for at least health and stamina.

So skin burning is what's causing my vampires face to appear dirty?
I had figured it was just dirt from being undead, never knew it was skin burning... Hope there's a way to make it go away..

@GallariaIchiban Thanks for the advice especially the ring that's great news :) and the stones I chose the mage at the start just to help get restoration up quickly.

Strange about the burning :/ I'm sure there were pics of it on wiki, are you out in daylight at all?

@ RetRdidMunkie As far as I'm aware the only way to get rid of the burns is to cure your vampirism then contract the disease again... I think.

That's another good idea, but I'd switch it soon as you get Necromage. I don't like using the Warrior/Mage/Thief/Lady stone because the enemies get powerful before I can get good enough gear, and with the weakness to fire, that's not something you wanna have going on.

And yeah, the dirty face thing is a glitch. Vampires have even clearer faces, actually, because their skin pales. Like Nilsina said, you have to cure yourself of the disease, then contract it again. Before you let it upgrade to full vampirism, though, save first so you have a "clean face" save in case it happens again.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Vampirism When playing as a female vampire, quitting the game and reloading the vampire save can result in a burnt or dirty face effect that does not go away on its own. The visual bug can be corrected either by curing vampirism or creating a new save where the PC is infected with the vampire disease but has not yet become a vampire. The mechanics of this fix are explained http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61653704?page=2. If this bug has already been triggered and there is no previous 'clean face save', a new one can be created after curing vampirism by doing Falion's quest and then re-contracting the vampire disease. Then before becoming a full vampire, save the game as a fresh file and do not overwrite it. To avoid this glitch in the future, the 'clean face save' must be loaded prior to the primary save file.

Yeah I will definitely change the stone, probably the lord, 100% weakness to fire at stage4 doesn't sound like fun for surprise dragon attacks :/

A dirty face bug!? Thanks simonizor for the heads up.

I thought that if you cure it you cannot re-contract it?

No, you can become a vampire as many times as you want. However, if you become a werewolf, you can't become a vampire until you cure yourself of Lycanthropy.
