Restoration Master Quest

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:55 pm

I've now tried this with 4 different races on master difficulty.

And I've only genuinely survived through the Test with an Altmer who had the Highborn ability to rengenerate magika. On all the other races I've had to crouch and hide till the test was over.

Anyone managed to survive through this without using an Altmer? And if so what did you have to do?

Please do not post Spoilers in General.

People come to General to learn about the game without learning about what happens in the game. If they want to know about what happens, that is what the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section is for.

Do not use quest details or location specific details related to quests/puzzles/NPCs in your posts in this section. General is for discussing gameplay and mechanics. General topics about the the game include but are not limited to races, items and their use, magic, enchanting, skills, character builds, criticism, praise, funny random things that happen, places from an esthetic standpoint and and other general topics.

Use the Spoilers Section if you have to post quest details or other spoilers or a thread about the same. This also includes console commands, and character build exploits.

I will move this now.

I did on my nord mage (an oxymoron I know) but that was on adept and I did have a few points in health. I just basically ran around the room and tried to avoid them while i healed and used the base healing spell cus it costs the least.

So you just have to survive a certain amount of time? Sounds kinda... easy. Stack on the tank gear, focus on minimizing restoration cost, and just heal and evade. You'll take less damage thanks to the armor, you'll heal what you do take thanks to restoration... bonus points if you threw in magic resists on top of the restoration cost reduction. More so if you're a Necromage Vamp with... say, the lord stone.

Your are left bare, with nothing in your inventory.

Summons help they can keep the enemies distracted, and while you won't keep your potions you can drink them before hand..

I just sneak and sit there until all the spirits come and go. They never detect me. I park my sneaky self opposite them in the room and wait it out.

This test was surprisingly difficult lol. I literally ran circles around the fountain with my redguard. Casting the healing spell like my life depended on it. (master)

After it was over I couldn't help but laugh at how many times I almost died lol.

I didn't know what the hell was going on.... suddenly I had nothing, and kind of instinctively went for my Expert spells and healing,
and before I knew it, it was over.
I literally stood there and said, What just happened?
[and yes, still talking about Restoration Ritual Spell  ]

I think because at that point my magica and health were so high, I just outlasted the challenge.

I just used Ebonyflesh and would load up Expert healing spells until I lost a good chunk of health, cast them, load them up again, etc. until the test was over.

I stayed hidden in the middle, and kept casting invisibility and summoning Storm Thralls (I had the Perk that gives Atronachs 100 more health and quiet casting).

If your character has some of the quest related perks that boost the effectiveness of Restoration spells, they can survive by dual casting the basic healing spell, even on Master difficulty. Fus is an excelllent Word of Power to meditate on with Paar, it makes your character more resistant to being staggered.
