So I have 22 perks saved up at level 81. Don't know where to

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:45 pm

To help understand my character, it's a pure mage build. I use enchanted clothing (no armor) and am a necromage vampire. When it comes to attributes, I put enough to get health up to 300 and the rest on magicka. No points put in Stamina.

Here's my build:

No, at the moment I am level 81 and have the 22 perks saved up.

Help me spend them!

Does this character have any interest in experimenting with weapons? If your mage wants to stay a pure caster, there isn't a lot of room for expansion given that you have almost all of the magic perks. I'm assuming that you skipped the cost-reduction perks because you have a set of cost-reduction enchants on your clothing?

Exactly.

I war the Archmage's Robes, with a circlet, gloves, the college boots, and my enchanted necklace/ring.

Using five slots of Alchemy enchantments and potions, I have 82% reduction in Destruction/Restoration, 41% reduction in Alteration and Illusion. Then the 18% reduced cost from all schools from the Archmage's robes.

I was thinking maybe bound weapons with mystic binding then putting perks into one-handed?

Bound weapons would be a nice addition, they are always good to have at your disposal, especially with mystic binding.

A side benefit to the bound bow is that you can see the dead bodies in the dark (sometimes I lose track of a couple), because they have a glowing blue arrow sticking out of them.....and hopefully it's not moving....

I would also vote mystic binding and some bound weapons, might as well get them soultrapping too.

If you are on a PC, You could try a mod like "Dwemer Certified" , and make an army of Dwemer Constructs to follow your character.

Finish up alteration to get Atronach. It will negate 30% of magic attacks you take. 80% with Atronach standing stone, making you impervious to magic and dragons. Finish up illusion and get master of mind to be able to control undead. Pick up disintegrate to get a 15% boost to shck damage. Get posioner, and you can apply weakness to magic enchants on weapons to increase damage from spells.

I would take a guess he has not taken atronach in alteration because he is using conjuration summons, thats why I didn't mention it anyways.

Finish up illusion and take rage and master of the mind so your frenzy is more effective and your illusions will work on undead, I'd actually dump dual casting restortation there really isn't a benefit. I have a level 81 mage with 300 health the rest in magicka so perhaps later I'll post up how I spent my perks.

Thanks for all the suggestion.

I'd like to mention that I use a Breton and that I'm already level 81 and my perks are already spent as the build shows. I have 22 remaining however.

Question on bound weapons. Do perks in onehanded, like armsman, determine how much bound weapons damage do?

Yes, the Bound weapons are affected by the skill trees of the weapons they are based off of. Bound Sword is a one handed, Bound Axe is a two handed, etc...

Your level 81 man! start a new game already! theres 10 races to choose from with a whole ton of different features like beards and so on.
I cant imagine sticking with one character all the way to level 81.
Ive got over 10 characters and 500 hours done on skyrim and i havent even got one to level 50(though i do have one at level 49 and a half.) I either get bored with my character or i get to the point where the only way i can continue playing with my dude is by using skills that arent part of my guys class or whatever.
For example, my swordmaster who uses light armor, one handed, block (no shield but got it level 100 anyway cus its still badass), sneak, lockpick, speech, the only way i can keep leveling him up is by taking on a skill like destruction or whatever but that doesnt fit my dudes persona. Not to mention i already finished the main quest and companions with him, i dont want to take my good character and do the evil dark brotherhood or thieves guild, just doesnt make sense.

Once you get to the point where you got nowhere to spend any perks on, then your character is basically done. Theres no point in continuing an RPG when you dont advance anymore. Then its not an rpg, then its just banjo kazooie...

If you play as a Pure Mage (clothing only), you should try Tejon’s Simple Skyrim Spell Scaling Solution (TSSSSS) + Minimalist Magic Overhaul (MMO). That setup will replace the cost reduction of your gear by damage increases, and will switch the potion's effect to cost reduction. The MMO mod also has some new perks that are very useful as a Pure Mage, including a perk called "Pure Mage", that gives a little bonus to your spells if you don't wear armor. MMO also boosts mage armor (although if you already have taken them, I don't know if you should remove and re-take them by using console).

Here's what I thought was necessary http://skyrimcalculator.com/#118398
If you like pickpocketing, then you could make poisons and place them on the targets you wish to harm. ;)
Still not at 81, lol. You could try the "cool" features with destruction that disintegrates targets with lightning, etc.

That is highly unlikely. My suggestion is to re-roll with a different character instead of playing with a level 81 character. :P

This is my 3rd playthrough, the first as a mage. I haven't completed a single misc. mission or sidemission or any questline mission. I just know the tricks to level up quickly with each skill.

Also, I wish I had this game on PC. So many awesome mods available. :(

By the way, I just left one skill at level 20ish so I can't mess myself over on the Wolf Queen Awakened. But in essence I can level that up to 100 in less than two minutes when needed.

I'm playing a mage this time around too and have been using only bound weapons when I am not using straight magic. It fits in nicely with the mage character and gives you something else to spend all those perks points on.

I'm a bit confused and perhaps I am misunderstanding a few things. It was my understanding, having not yet leveled a character to 81 myself, that in order to actually accomplish that milestone a character had to level every skill to 100. The OP claims to be a pure mage at level 81. This seems to be not possible as the only way to be level 81 is to be master of every skill, including weapons and armor skills. There is no way to be level 81 as a pure anything, short of using console commands.

I'm just trying to understand the point of this thread. If my understanding of how max level is achieved is in error then please correct me. Otherwise, a pure mage character should probably never be much more than about level 60ish (guessing here), maybe not that high. Once you start intentionally building non-mage skills then I really don't see how one can say the character is a pure mage anymore, regardless of where the perk points are spent..

He means pure mage, I think, because all his perks are focused in magic.
All you using weapons and styles and skills foreign to you to build up levels and perks that the game can't match are crazy to me either way.

Exactly. I don't use, for example, Light/Heavy and Block but can level those three skills in the same way and get it to 100 within 20 minutes. Same as other skills. Speech can be done instantly so can smithing if you use the fortify restoration loop. If you're curious, I can PM you the specifics.
