Psijic Order Wasted (Potential Spoilers)

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:57 pm

Is it just me, or does it feel like the Psijic Order was a wasted faction in this game? I mean, during the College of Winterhold questline when
Spoiler
it is revealed that the Psijic Order is watching the player
, does it seem like they wasted a chance to immerse the player in that faction? I was all set for them to play a big part but nothing really manifested from that.

A lot of would be factions were not used. Vigilants of Stendarr I am pretty sure is one people notice quite easily.

I think the Psijic Order is awesome and I was hoping I could join them.

Actually I'm glad they were kept peripheral, it's hard to be mysterious when you're inviting someone to join up. I do wish that the main quest of the College had been a bit longer, and I wouldn't have minded if this included a little more contact, but I wouldn't have wanted them to become to open or involved.

The presence of the Psiijic Order in the College questline was the only reason I was not posting something critical of Skyrim on 11-13-11, when my first Mage character was declared Archmage. I would like to see the Psiijic Order become more prominent as advisors to rulers who are opposed to the Dominion, in a DLC or future game.
Our characters are unable to join the Psiijic Order because Mysticism is no longer a School of Magic
My favorite character in Morrowind was a Warrior Mystic, and used Absorb Health like a Skyrim Vampire.

The Psijic Order has been around a long, long time and will show up again, I'm sure. They are brewing something and may play a role in the showdown with the Thalmor.

I have a feeling that they're a hint to the next TES game. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the Mage's faction (such as the Mage's Guild and College of Winterhold) in TES VI: Alinor.

I figured they'd be involved in some sort of DLC, maybe a swing by Artaeum or something. Still, in terms of lore, the teaching of Mysticism is referred to as "the Old Ways" so perhaps since Mysticism was removed and the spells from it put into other schools, that could be a reason for the Psijic Order being unavailable to join since it's so vague. Most in-game books describing the Psijic and their teachings have been n Daggerfell, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, so it was probably less taxing to just put them in the Mages Guild' questline all mysterious and such and sit on it if they had further plans for them, as opposed to having to think of a few good reasons to rewrite the lore.

Besides all of that, whatever happened to their grey hooded robes? Grey is neutral color; it would also look much better than that terrible color combination Bethesda stuck them into- a mustard yellow, REALLY? Gross.

They are totally wasted.
They look like they should have quests of their own, but they don't.
I wish they were a joinable faction.
Their robes are awesome! I tried to pickpocket one off the monk in the tower, but could'nt.

Also, the Vigilents of Stendarr, they are too many to be merely random npcs.
They look like they were supposed to be a joinable faction with quests too.
