The best armor in the game YOU F'n MAKE YOURSELF through smithing and enchanting (so what's the point).
There's maybe four or five armor/apperal items that really stand out and they mix match classes and still don't compare to the base stats of those which you can make even after some potions/smithing gear.
The unique weapons aren't all that bad but again there's only a handful that do (in this case) actually contend with personally made gear.
The classic items of old (Masque of Clavicis Vile, Mehrune's Razor, etc.) again barely compare to what you can make. (excluding Ebony Mail and a couple of the classic weapons are still good and can contend with Daedric after some potions and what not)
And finally, (PSEUDO-SPOILER) some of the very small selection of awesome gear can't even be obtained until about 50% and 90% of the way through the MAIN main story line (anybody who is a fan of unique hunting you know what pieces I'm talking about) Why? I get that Bethesda wants people to actually finish the game but what good is it going to do at the end, do you want us to rush through the main story line and abruptly stop to do everything else just so we can get stuff?
Honestly I'm a big, big fan of The Elder Scrolls games. They are (and probably will be for a very, very long time) hands down my favorite Video Games (and I've been playing video games since I was maybe four or five Nintendo/Atari'n it up, so that's about 21 solid years of many, many, many , Many different different games).
I love the new skill style, and the fact that you don't get stuck with picking a pretty specified class like your going to play some D'n'D right off the bat. I love the new fighting/magic wielding stances. I love the quests and Main storyline (I even love the basic plot right from the beginning). I love the new looks, stylization, and especially customization. I love the fact that there's finally dragons done the right way in a mid evil style RPG for the first time, and even more amazingly they occur through the whole game in multiple different types of encounters/interactions. I love about 90% of this game way more than the first of the series to console that got me started (TES III obviously), unfortunately oddly enough the 10% I'm not happy with (UNIQUES!!!!!!!!) are about 70-80% of the reason I play (and re-play, and re-play) these games. This one would probably be my favorite if it weren't for that sad truth (in MY opinion), but for all purposes I'd have to say that all around it's still Morrowind (Oblivion was phenomenal in its own rank, yes, but these two are ground breaking there's a difference (it ain't easy being a console middle child lol)) . This one is pretty much a tie, but if there were to be some added motivation by way of delving for equipment Skyrim would definitely take the cake.
I'm really, really hoping that the DLC's will more than make up for this fact (which I have a lot of faith that they will) by having some amazing weapons, and especially armor, as well as some interesting baddies in some not so obvious spots to obtain said items from.
Any thoughts anybody?

I smith on both of my characters so I do fine, but it makes the rewards more like trophies than usable gear.
and in terms of unique apparel, have you seen any of the Dragon Priest Masks yet?! Very awesome pieces of armor.
