I try to get the house in markarth but the jarl gave me a mission I can't complete : killing the bandit chief in four skulls loukout. problem is I killed these bandit long ago, and they don't respawn ! is there any workaround or am I doomed ?

I had also killed all of them, for me the bandit chief respawned at the very back part of the lookout, all of the others were laying around dead as I left them. Try to fast travel or walk somewhere else, then go back and look for him.

I had a problem with this quest moving forward after doing everything under the sun and had to use a console command in one game. Are you on PC? After I did his quest and helped his people way more than needed, the speech options wouldn't progress until I entered this command.

I've got a lot of miscellaneous kill the giant/dragon/bandit chief quests hanging undone in my quest log because I killed them earlier. You're not the only one.

Xbox 360. No console commands.

I had cleared out a dungeon before the Jarl gave the quest there and they hadn't yet respawned, I just went and did other things for 15 ingame days, then went back and the "bandit chief" and his buddies had respawned. When that happens I try and stay as far away from the dungeon as possible so that it has a chance to respawn. I'm never really sure how close is to close and I don't want the counter to start again from day 1.
