Hey guys, I am rather new to the game and can't seem to get past this quest.
I came as long as to infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy and started the distraction to get past the door with my smuggler.

I did not give him any gear so the chest that were supposed to have my gear is empty, therefore I am completely defenseless against any kind of harm.
I am only wearing the party robes, have no flasks, potions, armor or weapons what so ever. By sneaking around, I have been able to complete the 'Investigation of the return of the dragons' but I can't get through the trap door in the torture room where a guard and a wizard are questioning a prisoner. I've read that I need to kill them to get the key but I can't since I have no armor or gear.
All my saves are "Auto saved" at the party so I have no chance of doing this another way.

What can I do? I can't kill the guards bare handed and with no armor. Not even with a shield and an Iron Dagger. It's not enough.

Please help!

You must not go near the Thalmor unarmed. What do you expect if you want to inflict violence on them or their guards, a few free drinks and a horse and cart to Riverwood ?

My advice is to think this through and start again, arm yourself always with potions and/or weapons and do not go into dungeons or buildings without self protection, you are asking for trouble. Skyrim is violent and unpredictable, the game is programmed to through 'situations' at you each time you log on. Good luck.

If you can sneak to the foot of the stairs from the entrance near Eleweyns' Solar, there is a Mace on the lower level of the shelf. There is a chest across from this area that has some random weapons and pieces of armor. If all else fails turn down the difficulty and cook them in fire. A gaurd with the actual key will not show up until you find the Thalmor dossier on Esbern, and read it.
