Three days in a non epic struggle.

Looking for an exciting story?, well sorry but you've entered the wrong thread.

For three in game days my character has been trying to bring down a blood dragon flying over the stables of Windhelm, three in game days hitting it with everything they had at their disposal, arrows, fire, shouts, but this particular blood dragon even refused to fight, just circling the area, the guards were spooked, I could see arrows sticking out from the dragon, I could see blood decals on it's scaley skin, but this damn dragon refused to land or fight, I got so annoyed I opened up the console and gave it zero health, it immediately veered off over Kynesgrove, not die and fall from the sky, it ended up crash landing at one of the quest sites above Kynesgrove, those who have played will know where I mean, and it was still alive!, one shot with an arrow and it's immediately dead, what!?

Anyone else experience this?, it's like it was setessential until it crash landed.

Not all dragons are scripted to attack, perhaps this is one of them.

I have just taken to running down the path or field when I see a dragon now. If it is set up to attack, it will find me, otherwise I ignore it.

Blood Dragons are the only ones that I've encountered with odd behavior. Most of the time, on my first toon, they would die but they didn't give up their souls. I never had that issue with any other dragons LOL

Do you console edit everything you get annoyed by?

I think you missunderstand, this was not about winning, it would not have bothered me if my character had died in a fight with this thing, what got me is that it's health was not falling, 891.98 at the start, 891.98 after three in game day's of being hit by arrows, flames and shouts, between my characters and the guards it did get wounded down to that health on the first day, then refused to fall any further, it seemed the script could not locate a landing spot for it to land wounded, I did however find that if I moved my character forward toward the gates the dragon would fly off and vanish.

I avoid the use of console for cheats as it ruins my game, I've reloaded many times to the point before using the console , again and again this thing would not crash or die.

I had a similar problem with an ancient dragon over the weekend. Mine attacked but no matter what I did its health would not go down. Since I was next to a cabin I just went inside for a few minutes and the dragon flew away. I saw no point fighting it since I could not wound it and it would not land in a place for me to swing my sword. Just kept landing on the roof of the cabin.

I have also seen a dragon that fly's over Whiterun that never attacks just fly's around the city.

Isn't an in-game day 40 minutes? so you fought the dragon for 2 hours straight before giving up? I woulda stopped at like 30 minutes...
