Keep or sell back my copy of Skyrim for PS3?

Hello,

I'd just like to get a general opinion. I anticipated the release of Skyrim, preordered it from Game Stop, and picked it up on the date it was released.

Now, almost two months later, I am pretty much finished with the game. I completed the main quest several weeks ago and was just doing side quests until I got bored with them and their repetitive nature.

Game Stop is offering $30 if you sell back the game before January 10th (tomorrow).

I know that it is too early, but has anyone heard of expansion packs for Skyrim? Also, am I correct in assuming that in order to play an expansion pack, I need to have the physical disc of the original game? If this is the case, I'll hang on to Skyrim and when / if they release an expansion pack, I'll have my original copy. Any suggestions?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Any DLCs will require you to have the original game. As you're on a console you can't play without the disk.

There will be DLC released in the future so you may want to hang onto it.

You'd need the physical copy to make the expansions work.

Maybe you just need a break. I know 30 bucks sounds like a lot but you paid 60 for it. If you sell it back and decide you want it again, the cheapest you'll find it is probably on sale close to Christmas this year, a year away. If you think you could wait a year, sell it and play something else for awhile.

You will need the original game, yes. However, if you have a decent PC, consider trading your PS3 version with a PC version, so you have access to the mods that can make the game better and add lots of new stuff.

WOW! I just registered in this forum today and posted something... I am AMAZED that, within a few hours, I had so many replies. You guys (and gals) are awesome. When I see people helping other people - without anything in return - in forums, either for work or for fun (as in this case) my faith in the human race is restored. I just turned 41 yesterday, and I can remember 20 years ago, people seemed to be a lot less selfish and a lot more courteous.

I'll keep Skyrim. I loved it. I don't want to have to trade it in and then have to purchase it again, all so that Game Stop can earn a nice profit. (As good as the trade in deals can sometimes appear - it's the company that always comes out ahead- that's business!

As far as a PC goes, I have an iMac. I was a PC person until March 2010. I was a loyal HP fan until the quality of the hardware got really bad and the technical support started to change for the worst. I do, however, run a virtual machine via Parallels 7 Desktop for Mac, where I installed Windows 7.

Thanks again for all your advice!
