Well i have marcurio did you check back at the riften tavern he should be back there if he is not with you.

yes of course, hes not there either....

With normal means, I'm not sure. He may be stuck within some certain rocks or even being killed by enemies. Maybe you can try to use the following console command to bring him to you (PC only):

prid 000B9986moveto player

where 000B9986 is the refID of Marcurio.

There is also a mod called http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1992 which include a shortcut key ctrl-K to summon the follower to your side.

had the same prob in my game, i couldnt find him but i also couldnt get anyother followers cause he was still alive out there, any idea where you could of lost him?

I lost him too. I know exactly where I left him. He won't be going anywhere ever again. Because I killed him...

I have no idea. Is it possible he won't be returning? LOL
