im thinking of making an archery character .... how well do these perks work for kiting, are they 'legolas-like' or just minor upgrades?

I had a no sneak archer. I loved powershot and quickshot perks. I didn't try ranger perk but didn't miss it.

When enemies came close, I could increase rate of fire by not fully drawing the bow, and the stagger effect still worked even though the damage was low.

that's essentially what kind of build I'm looking at, curious about ranger tho

Ranger is a big upgrade, you can back peddle and shoot at almost the same speed people can run at u

just remember to put a LOT of points in Stamina.
You'll be using a whole lot of powerdraws and eagle eye slow time, and you dont want to run out of juice at a bad time.

Whenever the enemy gets too close I punch them in the face with my bow and switch to melee.

I'm thinking archery/dual daggers for my damage-dealers. That bow bash stagger will come in handy

I find the bow bash stagger to be somewhat unreliable. Sometimes it staggers them, sometimes it doesn't. You have to have pretty good timing for it to be of any use.

I just got both Quick Shot and Ranger for my arcane archer. They are awesome.

Since you were wondering about Ranger, I would definitley get it - even at the cost of having to take Hunter's Discipline, which is suboptimal. My arcane archer doesn't use sneak very much, so mobility is hugely important. With Ranger, I can now duck in and out of cover, and I actually can avoid those horrible ice spears that get tossed at you by enemy mages.

You can also actually shoot & backpedal with Ranger, but I find I don't need to do that very often. Most of the time, bad guys can stay in your face while you're doing this anyway, so it's better to still sprint-kite away. But with Power Shot, if the enemies come one or two at a time, you can keep them pinned down pretty easily.

So yeah - Ranger is definitely definitely worth it!

cool, I'm looking forward to the build itself - I've gotten bored with my conjuration build and am looking at focusing on archery with some heavy progression in alteration
