Let's play Skyrim... only this playthrough isn't blind

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:31 pm

So after seeing the legions of let's plays, I thought I might do my own. I have always wanted to do a let's play of Skyrim, but held back for one reason: to show respect for the game. I feel that blindly playing a game for a let's play is bad, and doesn't show the game the proper respect it deserves. Also, face it, Skyrim can be buggy. When it was first released, it could have been unplayable. What if I encountered a game breaking bug 20 episodes through the play through? There goes that let's play!

So I have to wonder if people really want to see this or not. There are already a kazillion +1 Skyrim videos out there, but perhaps this one could be something different. So my 2 questions: do you want to see this? And what would you like to see in a Skyrim let's play?

Thanks for any responses in advance!

Not sure what you're talking about. What is a "blind" playthrough and/or what is a not "blind" playthrough?

Disagree with that. Some of the best lpers I have watched understand the game fully and what you can do in it. But I can see why blind let's plays are fun to watch: cause the person playing has no idea what to expect!

But seriously, it shows no respect for the game your playing just to play blindly

A blind playthrough is where you play the game without having any prior experience with the game (I.E. you haven't played it before). A non-blind playthrough is the opposite. I have played through the main quest and finished it once, but haven't done all the side quests. So obviously there will be some blindness but I will understand the concepts of the game, how to play it, and what to expect from the main storyline.

So you could say this is a "partially blind" playthrough

a blind playthrough is basically playing without knowing anything thats gonna happen, meaning you didnt play the game at all (even a little bit) before you started the playthrough. And you didnt watch any other lets plays or walkthroughs

I dont think it shows no respect, it just annoys me. For example, at the Bleak Falls Barrow, some people didnt know what to do.

I'd think with a non-blind playthrough you'd be able to make things more interesting with your knowledge of the game.

i saw some of the first gameplay videos on youtube and assuming those were "blind" playthroughs all they did was frustrate me. i kept yelling at my monitor wondering why they were fiddling with something for the umpteenth time or staring at corners. at the very least i hope that the OP knows how to use his inventory efficiently unlike some players that spend more time shufflng stuff around instead of playing. if so then i enjoy watching playthroughs........especially the DID playthroughs. :)

Yeah, I got basic inventory management skills, I hotkey all my main weapons and such through numbers1-8 so I don't have to open my inventory for a spell. Also know things like quick spell menu and tend to put healing potions at the top of my bag. If at any point I feel a complete inventory management is required, I will skip that part of the video out.

I watch Let's plays for entertainment. I like TobyGames play through ^_^ funny stuff. Idiocy does annoy me sometimes, but it's why its so interesting. I don't do a play through because I already know most content of the game, and someone never being surprised by anything and knowing exactly what to do all the time isn't fun to watch.

I'll watch it and see how I like it though.

Blind play FTW.
I heard about skyrim from fallout players but interest me at all. dunno why.
after launch someone said that skyrim is great. wtf?! i got my hands on the game. i watched only the trayler on youtube.
the game was AWESOME. i was like a little kid taken into the candy store.
i enjoyed each and every step, with no knowledge.
even now, on the second paytrough i'm finding new quests and stuff. i know thr mechanics, and thus am more efficient, but like this i'm enjoying playing freely
