Possible to get TG armor without joining TG?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:04 am

The basic set of Thieves' Guild armor is probably my favorite light armor set in the game.

Is there any way to get it, though, without joining the guild? I'd love for my ranger to be able to grab that hood, and probably the gloves too, but everyone in the Flagon is essential (I think), and I don't think you'd be able to loot their armor anyway.

And the cistern is locked.

Is there a key to get into the cistern so you don't have to do those first little TG missions? I know there are some pieces of armor just lying around in there, if I could only get in...

If you're on the pc, there are mods for various ways to get hold of it. AFAIK, there's no way on consoles to get it without joining.

Dang.

I guess, since I'm on PC, I could just console 'unlock' on the door, yeah?

Really wish they had left some more of that armor lying around in the world.

Go get one of the mods. There's IIRC one which will get you the craftable enchantable "bare" TG armor, one that will get you the armor exactly the way it comes from the TG - enchants etc., and one (the one I use) which makes all the leather in the game look like the TG armor.

If you're on PC you don't need mods to get the armor. You just need to activate the console by pressing that sixy ~ key

player.additem (enter those codes) (How many you want)

Thieves Guild Armor: 000d3ac3
Thieves Guild Boots: 000d3ac2
Thieves Guild Gloves: 000d3ac4
Thieves Guild Hood: 000d3ac5

For the Master guild armor:

Guild Master's Armor 000e35d7
Guild Master's Boots 000e35d6
Guild Master's Gloves 000e35d8
Guild Master's Hood 000e35d9

You can't, it's one of many worn armours which cannot be looted.

Can't do it without cheating.

Primarily I reckon because it's supposed to be one of the incentives for joining the TG in the first place.

Right. Which isn't cool. It would be nice to have a perk in the Smithing tree that allows you to make specialty leather armors like TG and DB. Then you could put any enchantment on them you wanted. TG armor has zero battle advantage: lockpicking, pickpocketing, carry weight, better prices. At least Linwe's armor does--it's also sleeveless wich looks good on female characters. When doing the TG that's always the first special job I go after because I can get useful Thief armor.

I agree - which is why I made a mod for myself for smithing "heavy leather armour". It uses the TG skin, but has stats a little lower than glass. But if you have the CK anyway then you can just as easily make the real thing playable.

Well that's weird - I started the game in a set of TG armour, looted from a thief who attacked me before I even entered Riverwood. I certainly managed to rob him of it, and deserved to - at lvl 2 it was a tough fight
No mods or cheats, just had it set to Adept difficulty (I think)

Edit: It was enchanted too; think it was Master Thief armour.

Oh yeah, I've encountered that one too. But I didn't like the frills and pink colour, so I forced a dragon to wear it. he was quite happy with it.

:shakehead:

Either you're messing with us, or you've got a mod installed which (secretly?) added it to your game.

Point is, the Thieves' Guild armor is a uniform, so it'd be weird for any stranger to be able to recreate it, or even find it laying around in the wilds. And no members of the Thieves' Guild attack you when roaming the world, or at least they aren't wearing their uniform when doing so, so no lootable TG armor.
