Make It Perfect This Time

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:07 pm

Ok so i have restarted my Main Character for the 3rd time now and i want to make it perfect this time (Perfect for me). I always go with Full Sneak, Full Archery, some Pickpocket, and some light armor. I want to use some skills that wont take away from my character's overall "story" but still make the character fun. He is an Assassin Vampire Breton. I might consider Alchemy but i do not prefer it, Enchanting is a big maybe, and Smithing is kind of a want. No magic skills whatsoever though.

-Sneak (Max)
-Archery (Max)
-Pickpocket (Bare Minimum)
-Light Armor (Bare Minimum)
-Speech
-
-

I would like at least 2 more skills to work at during the playthrough. I intend to do the DB questline last since i really want to have really high skills before i go through it, but i need some ideas for other quests to do in order to build those up. No Companions for sure, i will not let Nocturnal have my Soul either, and no magic means no College. Also no Dragonborn business.

So any ideas?

illusion for obvious reasons
conjuration - only for undead revival, if your evil it seems fitting

I wouldn't think of it as magic ... you're a armoire and this would have the ability to influence another's mind. Id say you're doing yourself a disservice with no illusion

Armoire? Like a dresser or wardrobe? I already have many Assassin/Thieves who use illusion and i know how useful it but this character is all about physical damage

With Sneak maxed and Shadow Warrior you can get by without Illusion.

Maybe One Handed in case you get stuck in the middle of a bunch of enemies and don't feel like running back to hide? With decent Light Armor you should be able to fight respectably.

And if you enchant weapons and armor you'll be able to augment fighting and sneaking abilities.

Edited for clarity.

should have been vampire ... silly iPhone autocorrect.

anyway, I was just putting it out there. If he is about physical damage, then perhaps enchanting your weapons with fear?

LMFAO how did Vampire get mixed up with Armoire? I hate the Fear enchant. Chasing down my enemies is not helping me very much

haha who knows :P.

I meant it for more of rp purposes, fear = vampires. Anyway, on that note ... I'm so disappointed there isn't a frenzy enchantment.

There is frenzy poison, with PP and the poisoner perk my Khajiit can make people go postal...although the spell is easier

hmm, never been a fan of alchemy myself. I simply never feel inclined to pluck ingredients or mix them together, perhaps if there was a 'need' like a requirement in some
sort of hardcoe mode.

Anyway, as far as your character. it seems like with no magic and only really needing the left side of archery you'll have some perk points to spend. Maybe investing some in speech, not sure how social he will be but some of those perks are very useful.

As someone mentioned earlier some one handed perks. I am starting a non sneaking archer character who uses daggers when they close in. It seems you won't really need it as you'll be doing some heavy sneak damage ... but it's something to think about especially if you don't use a follower. I know there was one dungeon where 2-3 drauger would come out then 2-3 more and so on. It got a bit hairy.

also I believe you said just some in light armor, Id say this would depend on if you wear a light helm. My character is always helm'less' and so I only go up to unhindered

I intend to wear the Shrouded Armor (even though it's aesthetic flaws poke at me) with the shrouded hood so it will not be a set

hm so very much dark brotherhood ... I would say you're on the right path. What I usually do is pick 2-3 skills I really want to invest in heavily, and then as I play if I start really using something a lot I start putting some perks into it. Nothing wrong with having a plan tho

understandable ... but given the few things you want to focus on I'd say you have points to spare.

sneak, I'd just take them all, although you may just need one rank in the first perk

archery you could probably just focus on the left side, especially if you plan to sneak a lot

pickpocket ... I'm not sure your reasons for wanting this so I'm at a loss

lockipick, you could enchant items to help this

light armor, up to unhindered taking all 5 ranks of the initial perk

smithing, arcane? I'm not sure what weapons you like

enchanting - if you plan to enchant (which I suggest) take several in this tree maybe excluding the elemental ones and soul squeezer side of the tree.

that's all I can think of with no magic

The only thing I've used Alchemy for was to make the +120% Fortify Smithing potions so I could get leather-based armors past the cap. ...but I use an atypical Assassin that can fight as well as Sneak.

I've been able to sneak up to them while they are still in their crypt 'holes' (berths? I actually don't know what the individual 'slots' that contain the corpses are called.) and 'backstab' them before they even got up. And in the rooms wherein several are already on their feet and roaming I could usu sneak around and 'backstab' them one at a time without the others finding me. :P This was while wearing 4 pieces of gear with +40% Fortify Sneak enchants though.

I do think enchanting is worth taking (Even if only to enchant Worn Shrouded gear) and i really want Daedric Dagger and Bow but idk if Smithing will be a waste for this one

while you have a couple of options...

invest in smithing

bound weapons (although it's a sword)

or wait till upper level and find them in loot
or on vendors.

I'd say you'll be doing insane damage anyway so I don't think you'll need to smith your own

Oh, I had plenty of fun slashing them up with my warrior type, but a stealth kill is a stealth kill whether they're 'sleeping' or not. :P I miss a few every now and then and they stand up after you pass them while sneaking. Plus, sometimes I get tired of sneaking through entire crypts and just fight them.
