What!?! The Civil War quest line is broken?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:40 pm

Over six months have passed since Skyrim was released and ...

THE CIVIL WAR QUESTLINE IS STILL BUGGED !!!???!!!

This is a MAJOR questline.

I'm referring to the bug regarding the conflict between "Seasons Unending" and the Imperial Legion "Reunification of Skyrim" quest.

General Tullius sent me to liberate the Winterhold hold. But ... that is already an Imperial controlled hold as a result of the negotiatioms of Season Unending. Thus Legate Rikke at the Winterhold Imperial Camp does not give me any dialog options to continue the quest. The quest objective arrow just continues to hang over her. ... and nothing happens.

What do I do? Is there a console command to tell General Tulius that the Imperials already have the Winterhold Hold?

General Tullius is not the Bumbling Stupid Idiot ... the Bumbling Stupid Idiot is/are the people who programmed him.

Yes I'm angry. Six months and this known major bug isn't fixed.

I joined the Empire and the Stormcloaks have Winterhold... yet I still can't get my orders from Rikke. Two trophies hang on this questline, so unless I can find a magic way on the PS3 to get around it (nothing has worked as of yet), I'll have to do it on another character in order to get my Platinum.

Imperial questline seems broken. Should have joined Stormcloaks as they don't have as many bugs.

I am currently on my fourth character game at a level 50. Currently signed up with the Imperial Forces and just finished the quest at Korvanjund to get the Jagged Crown before the Stormcloaks get it first. Upon entry with Legate Rikke into Korvanjund, the site was all fragmented with the different sites of Korvanjund seperated by cloudy space. It was impossible to go through the facility with the Imperial troops with me. After a number of starts and crashes of the game the site finally opened up and I was able to complete. My next assignment was to take a message from Tullias to the Jarl of Whiterun. I entered Whiterun and walked to the Dragonreach to deliver the message, but every time I tried to go through the door into the doorway, the game crashes. I tried to enter with TCL, but once directly inside, the whole place is fragmented and not a clear definition of how to get to the Jarl. So I am unable to complete the quest. Any resolution to this problem? I have been getting a lot of crashes in the last couple of weeks in other parts of Skyrim, especially in The Rift Hold. Has anyone heard of a software upgrade coming to fix these constant random and continuous crashes or fragmented sites.

That was a problem with the size of save game files and its loading and was fixed in a prevoius Skyrim patch update. It sounds like your new game cell is not loading correctly. Try the new beta patch for Skyrim which was just released this week.

So this bug is not related to whether or not one does "Seasons Unending".

Six months after game release and a MAJOR questline is still bugged.

This should be fixed immediatly.

Leave it alone, I'd say. I've never joined anyone after the first playthrough. Not worth stressing over.

I've never done the Civil War questlines. I'd like to ....

So all I can do is the Jagged Crown and Whiterun quests? I feel ripped off.

The Setstage command continuously says "not found".

The exact same thing happened to me with Winterhold, except for that I haven't reached Season unending yet. This way, I hope to get around it. I already tried all kinds of console commands I found on uesp but nothing helped.

This may be a stupid question but have you finished the main quest?

The point of Season Unending is for a peace treaty and therefore no civil war quest can be completed. Once the MQ is finished the questlog updates (well that's what should happen)

No, what is supposed to happen is that you should be able to skip the peace treaty if you have already done the civil war.
Though I have never been able to, due to the bug where Rikke doesnt update the quest for Winterhold.

I had already completed Season Unending and the MQ, yes. Perhaps that's why my Reunification of Skyrim isn't working. I'm not super bummed. I plan on making another character at some point, anyway, so I'll just get my Civil War trophies then.

I also see that the red and blue flags on the castle war maps don't change correctly.

There is still a stormcloack flag on Riften and an Imperial flag on Markarth. However ... if I move my mouse cursor over Riften, eventually it changes from Stormcloak Riften to Imperial Riften and if I press 'E' it shows "Map Updated" in the upper left corner. Wonder if this will have an effect.

Nonetheless ...

the Civil War quests need a patch to fix the bugs. Is this being worked on?

Same thing here!!! :swear:

I went back to an old save before Season Unending and the trading of holds. I did get to do Fort Greenwall this time.

But ... again ... no dialog at the Winterhold Imperial Camp.

This really needs to be fixed.

Skyrim is No Longer Fun for me anymore.

I've done all the quests and received 49 of 50 Achievements.

All I want to do is finish off the Civil War questline at Windhelm with my level 79 character. I don't want to start a new game.

I guess the civil war would not be much fun either way with a level 79 character, it already felt too easy with a level 15. Well, until Rikke won't start the quest regarding Winterhold.

Yeah, I'm stuck here too. I really hope this is being worked on and Bethesda isn't turning a blind eye on this bug. I've heard this is been going on a month after the games release and it still continues today. It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me for loyal players who have spent their money so they can enjoy a game. Then they find out they can't beat a game because of some louzy bug that should of been taken care of before release. *Sigh* I really hope this is fixed soon because I want to finish this civil war.

Not worth wasting my time all summer whining over it if they are just going to ignore it. I personally feel that a large number of the community needs to speak out in large numbers if we wish to resolve this problem.
