PC FOV

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:02 pm

I'm trying to figure out how to make fov changes permanent. I've tried:

1.In the SkyrimPrefs.ini file, add the following line to the [General] section at the bottom:
fDefaultFOV=XX

2.Then, open the skyrim.ini file, and add the following 2 lines to the [Display] section:
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=XX

Then I set FOV in the console in-game.

where XX is the FOV (I prefer 90).

But it still resets sometimes when I exit/restart the game. Does anyone know the correct ini changes to make FOV changes permanent? Thanks.

Make files Read only so that the game does not rollback them to defaults.

Generally, I use the console command

Setcamerafov XX

I do this when I start a new game. The game generally saves this setting for me through the normal save game process. I do occasionally find it reverted for some unknown reason, but 90% of the time I can just load up my game and go.

I used the method in this article. Never had a problem with it, as long as you don't adjust it in the console afterwards.

To change the default FOV, find the Skyrim.ini file in your Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ folder and place the following line under the [Display] settings header:

fDefaultWorldFOV=x.x

My FOV never changes, but I never set it in the console after setting it in the Skyrim.ini.
