An option to appoint a different leader would be nice ...

I'd rather be able to appoint Vilkas leader of the companions, Mirabelle the archmage, Brynjolf the head thief (lol) and I haven't done enough of the db to say. I just don't think my character has to be the head honcho of everything ...

Sadly, I don't think Mirabelle will be around to take over that job for you.

I usually just RP that I've appointed someone else to take over day to day operations for a faction, especially if I'm not going to be around their HQ much after I've finished their questline. It's kind of easy to pretend you're not actually running the place when 99% of the NPCs you meet, including the ones who are now your subordinates in the faction ttself, still treat you like a newb and errand boy/girl anyway. That's my main gripe with most of the faction questlines, not that I become the leader of a faction but that even when I do it has little or no effect on my remaining interactions with its members.

that is a reasonable way to role play around it. Thanks, It still would have been nice to say 'hey, you're the leader'

edit: does Mirabelle die, that's too bad - I had forgotten alot of the quest.

Sadly, yes, which didn't make any sense to me. They have an instructor that constantly tells you Restoration is a valid scool of magic; first opportunity to really prove it and she's nowhere to be found.

haha she was in her room complaining ... oh well, on my first play through I did the mages guild very early then took a break until it played more smoothly on the ps3. I think wanting to appoint a different leader is just a small portion of a much bigger problem with the guilds ... it's all a bit easy. I was a hard core conjurer who became the leader of the companions.

Plus why isn't there a option to retire and picking a successor if you decide to leave, i would have wanted that too.

I agree, we should have the option to choose someone else to lead the faction...

glad to see I'm not alone, it would just add some realism to it. I think being the legendary dragon born is a little over the top as is, leading every faction is too much.

And any additional choices are always welcome

agreed. that seems to be a problem with a lot of the dialogue. I can only say one thing, and it's usually something I wouldn't say.

While we are on the topic of guild and choices...

Am I the only one who wants a separate questline for each guild that is dedicated to "destroy" the guild?

I mean, we already have the option to "destroy" the Dark Brotherhood, so why not let us destroy the rest of the guilds? All the guilds have some form of reason to be disliked (thieves guilds are criminals, DB are murderers, The Companions are werewolves and the Jarl of Winterhold hates the collage). Destroying the guilds shouldn't just be single quests, but entire questlines IMO.

I think that would be great. Especially for rp purposes, like joining the silver whatevers they are

Exactly. Joining the Silver [Bloods?] would be an awesome reason to make a Demon-hunter character :D

very nice idea ... I doubt we will see that tho, the silver bloods are wrapped up for the most part in that quest line. like at the tail end it says 'optional' wipe them out, but in order to get the fragments you kill them all anyway.

Also the option to turn down leadership.

Granted my last charector became head of all the guilds for future protection purposes. If the thalmor atk,, id like to think the guilds becoming my own personal army type thingie if the thalmor atks or use the forsworn as a diversion.

Tg on task of stealing the briarhearts from those zombie dudes.
Mg on task on keeping the bird ladys occupied.
Companians in dealing with the trash mobs.
DB in dealing with lieutenants and the leaders.

See now, I enjoy being head honcho of everything. It's not like much is asked of me. I'm like a corporate mogul - I own and run tons of things, but I don't ever really need to be around, because, like, I have that "well-oiled machine" kinda corporate structure - the biz just runs itself.

That being said, I like to think of Brynjolf being my main guy in the TG, Cicero has my back in the Brotherhood, the triumvirate of Farkas, Vilkas, and Aela can mind the shop in Jorrvaskr, and in the College, I'd put the reins in J'zargo's hands. That cat is way cool. He can always turn to the old man, Tolfdir, if he needs a consigliere.

I would much much rather be the 2nd in command "go to" guy. I feel strange going out adventuring as the guild head. I should be sending others to do stuff not going myself.

Yeah, it's really a drag, especially with the TG and the DB (maybe the College as well, altho there's really not much there to do and I didn't hang around to do much of it). With the Companions it never seemed so bad, because I would still run across other members out in the wilds doing... stuff. And they would be fighting whatever baddies were also in the vicinity. Some of my favorite random encounters, in fact. It made it seem like the rest of them were also out there getting things done, not sitting on their rumps back in Jorrvaskr 24/7. But the TG and the DB - in those factions, NOBODY does a damn thing except the PC, they don't even pretend like they're working, they just hang around HQ giving me orders and livin' large off my hard work.

For my character, it feels only proper to be going out into the field. She leads by example. That, and she gets an almost sixual thrill out of thieving, sneaking, and murdering.

Having said that, I do wish you could assign jobs to your fellow guild members and have them go in your stead. The harder the job, the longer they'll be gone and you may have to break them out of jail if need be.
