An awesome Idea approach of becoming a full forsworn

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:00 pm

I hope Bethesda has full plans (or something similar to this) of adding this in the future DLC or expansion.

This would be perfect for players who's against the Stormcloaks, the Empire and not but least the Thalmor, and just want to be part of the Forsworn.

So to become a forsworn you approach a member of a forsworn out in the wilderness. Initially they will not attack you on sight, unless if you approach them in a hostile manner, so sheath your weapons and put your hands down, if you're a spell caster. You activate the dialogue by talking to them. You ask “How can I become a Forsworn?” then a member of the forsworn will direct you to speak with Nepos the Nose in markarth. Once you enter his house you ask him to join. He will then give you several task to do to prove that you are forsworn material. Some of the task may include stealing and murder. Each task you complete you obtain a rank a title: Forsworn, Forsworn Forager, Forsworn Looter, Forsworn Pillager and Forsworn Ravager. To become a Briarheart (The last rank that you will get) you must finish your finial task, and that is to free your forsworn brothers from Cidhna mine. To do that Nepos the Nose will give you full instructions to go and murder someone from the market place during the day so that everyone can see the crime. Once you commit the crime you will be approached by several guards. They will try to arrest you. You have the option to resist, but then the quest will be marked down as fail so you it's best to surrender to the guards peacefully. So now you're in Cidhna mine. You get to know your forsworn brothers by listening to their stories. You then approach the orc where in the dialogue you tell him “Nepos ask me to see Madanach” where he then gives you access to the the King in rags himself. He then tells you that he and Nepos has been planning to take over Markarth for a while now, and that today is the day that Markarth sees a whole new day where the forsworn will once again take over the reach. You then have the option to ask him through the dialogue “You expect to have 7 of us to do this alone?” he will respond back “I've ordered Nepos to gather up several of our camps to help us, we are not alone”. After that he explains the escape route. Once you and your foresworn members are outside of markarth (Madanach gives you the enchantment forsworn outfit to wear) Thonar Silver-Blood makes his presence with several guards at his side. He rambles on his same speech and then the fight starts. You fight off guards and the take over of Markarth begins.

To get an idea of what takes place watch The Siege of Markarth video at http://youtu.be/1uYsnoUvv8Q

After Markarth is taken over Madanach reveals his true plans... to liberate skyrim and drive both the nords and the empire out of skyrim and to attain independence. He then gives you an official rank of Forsworn Briarheart which then carries out the ritual where 2 Forsworn Matriarchs performs the Briarheart Ceremony. You are told to lay down on a cement table where they then take their claws and makes an incision to your chest to which they then take out your human heart (This is where the screen turns black) where you then wake up with the repeated lines from the 2 Hagravens. “Heart of thorn... bones of the wild... in life, Forsworn.....rise from death, Blood of our Blood.” You are then rewarded with Briarheart Geis along with an additional power.

Is this an idea or what?

You do know some factions are never meant for the player to join right? Kind of ruins the game... Joining the forsworn would mean the cities are off limits because you would become a enemy of the hold mainly markarth.

Since this is a role-playing game I think we should have the choice to choose which faction we want to join. Why must we choose between the empire or the stormcloak when you could hate both of them? No it doesn't ruin the game. It makes it a bit more interesting by adding in more choices and consequences. I would like to experience the life of a forsworn in skyrim

So any quests for markarth that are required for the main quest and many side quests are now negated and you can't complete it because you are a forsworn briar heart... Cool in sure many people will not like this. Also yes it's a rpg game but ALL rpg games have factions you can't join it's a simple fact. Dlc that negates and makes the main quest impossible is kinda dumb.

Oh and all forsworn are nord. I have yet to see a non nord forsworn.

You really think that the Forsworn who are only able to fight the Reach Hold will be able to hold out against the Empire and Skyrim?

They have the PC, it the same of the stormcloak being able to somehow defend Skyrim from the Thalmor when they lose to a single Legion.

Actually yes I believe that the Forsworn can take out the empire and skyrim. Since you will become a member of the forsworn you give them 10x extra strength. Since you have the thu'um you have the upper hand. Just like Ulfric did when he used his thu'um to take down the forsworn during the Markarth incident. If Ulfric can do it why couldn't the dragonborn use the thu'um to take back Markarth?

Be sure to do the main quest before the you become a member of the forsworn... just remember not to attack or kill a forsworn while in the reach. Most likely you will have to forfeit the ability to become a thane.

Besides if your character is a forsworn why do you want to do these side quests? Why do you want to make friends with the people in the reach? Your main purpose is to take back the reach from the nords that took it in the first place.

No the forsworn are mostly Breton race. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Forsworn

The Forsworn, also known as the Reachmen, Witchmen of High Rock, and Madmen of the Reach, are a tribal group of racially-mixed (but primarily http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Breton) ancestry who inhabit http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Reach in southwestern http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Skyrim.

Go checkout Cidhna Mine. All but 2 (The orc and Grisvar the Unlucky) of the captive forsworn are Bretons, including Madanach himself.

Really?

Do the main quest First or svcks to be you? Yeah that's a great dlc. I can't agree to this at all. Its just bad. Just because you are dragon borne does not mean you are godly. It just means you have a differnt form of power. Hell the people of Morrowind defeated the nord invading army and each and every nord could use the voice. 1 dragon borne can't defeat a army by himself and a few hundred reachmen. " oh look a dragon borne fighting the empire/nord army... Well let's... Let's send more troops he can deal with and use lots of magika..." game mechanics

There is a reason why there are factions you can't join. Thalmore want the dragon borne dead. He/she is a threat to them just like the blades. Reachmen are almost feril people. Briar hearts are kinda dead etc etc.

In Morrowind you could not join a few factions. As they were infact game breaking. Dagoth ur faction? Ok can't be neravar. Join db? You have a price on your head you can't join them.

Joining these factions will prevent you from completing the main quest. That equals game breaking and saying if you want to beat the main quests then don't join these factions untill you do or svcks for you is just bad.

I don't see how it is Game Breaking.

Why would you be attacked in Winterhold by the Guards because you are a Forsworn member? You aren't attacked in Stormcloak Windhelm for being an Imperial Soldier (which you totally should be) and you aren't attacked in Solitude for being a Dark Brotherhood member.

For those saying Briarhearts would be unplayable since they'd be attacked on sight by all. This is true but the samething happens with level 4 vampires (although it can be reverted). Also, the Briar-Heart can be hidden by wearing armour so that others can't see it.

If this still doesn't work then making the Briarheart unplayable is still an option.

This is specious. A roleplayer, by definition, will rarely, if ever, do all available quests on one character anyway...as I'm sure you realize.

Dagoth ur faction? Ok can't be neravar. Join db? You have a price on your head you can't join them.
One of the most often-repeated complaints I have heard about the Elder Scrolls series is that there are no branching quest lines. The quests are linear, people say. All the quests end up with the same result. Players have complained since the week Morrowind was released about not having the option of joining Dagoth Ur. A very popular mod was made allowing the player to join Dagoth Ur. It is considered one of the best roleplaying mods made for that game.

Roleplayers realize that taking one path eliminates another path. For many roleplayers that is one of the essential features of a good roleplaying game. Go take a look at the Skyrim General Discussion forum and in any discussion about story or quests you will see people saying that the lack of any need to make difficult choices in quests is the very thing that prevents Skyrim from being a good RPG, in their eyes.

I think this is a great idea. For those complaining about the possibility of losing quests, I really don't see the issue - In New Vegas, you could kill any NPC, and if you killed a quest - essential NPC, then pardon my french, but tough [censored]; that's that, you can't do that quest anymore. I don't see the problem with this from a roleplaying perspective at all.

That's essentially what happens once you do become the dragonborn, You become this godly being. You have all of these extra set of powers that only you can obtain, and not everyone else. Are you sure that the dragonborn can't defeat an entire army by himself? I could very well do it alone in a huge city like Solitude when I’m not in RP mode with my current Altmer mage character.

There is a reason why there are factions you can't join. Thalmore want the dragon borne dead. He/she is a threat to them just like the blades. Reachmen are almost feril people. Briar hearts are kinda dead etc etc.

But Skyrim is a Role playing game. You're suppose to have the freedom to pick whatever team you want to choose from. If you want to be a thalmor supporter then you should have the freedom to join up with the thalmor. If you're an empire supporter go join the empire and same with being a stormcloak.

Briarhearts maybe dead but you can still be a vampire in skyrim, and their classified as the undead.

In Morrowind you could not join a few factions. As they were infact game breaking. Dagoth ur faction? Ok can't be neravar. Join db? You have a price on your head you can't join them.

I haven't played Marrowind yet so I can't tell answer to this, but so what if it's game breaking. This is role playing. To enjoy this game at it's best you must use your brain... the beauty of imagination.

Joining these factions will prevent you from completing the main quest. That equals game breaking and saying if you want to beat the main quests then don't join these factions untill you do or svcks for you is just bad.

Thats why you do the main quest first before joining. You can't break the game like that.

I'll say it again. TES lore>a video games mechanics.

Your mission in Morrowind. Was to defeat dagoth ur and end the blight. Not join him and continue the disease or spread it or whatever. By this logic you should be able to join alduin even though he hates you and would rather kill you than look at you and he's trying to destroy the universe.

Forcing the player to beat the game before doing paid dlc content or break the game because you wanted to use the dlc first. Yeah that's a great rpg thing. TES games ate infact the most open rpg games out there. But even dungeons and dragons has its limits on what you can do. Also any race can learn the way of the voice. It just comes more naturally to man.

Your idea is infact broken because its forcing me to play a certain way with a no going back and svcks to be you. The guards in every hold would attack a briar heart on sight. Just like they do to vamps and Werewolfs. Reachman want to kill and or run every race out. You are the hero of skyrim not it's doom. Yes it's a rpg game but it's not a do whatever you want kind of rpg. TES has never been a join the bad guys cause kind of rpg.

Morrowind had a lot of svcks to be you. Do this quest or kill this person and chances are you cant complete a lot of quests or would even break the main quest while trying to complete the main quest. That was a bigger complaint for Morrowind than factions. breaking of quest lines was such a big problem that they introduced essentials to oblivion. Because in Morrowind you had no way of knowing if you needed this person.

This might be cool. I don't like the idea of becoming a Briarheart, though. And even though you could hide the Briarheart in your chest (females would almost have to because of the game's clothing ) isn't the skin of the Briarhearts kinda' greyish and obvious? If Bethesda wanted to they could allow us to walk amongst the NPCs and not be known as a Forsworn as long as we don't wear the Forsworn Armor in public. Although they'd have some work to do since Hogni Red-Arm says, "I can't believe anyone was dumb enough to mistake you for a Forsworn agent." while I'm wearing Forsworn Armor from head-to-toe.

For realism Markarth might have to be off-limits, but that's the price one might have to pay...or maybe there could be a mini-CW in The Reach and Markarth could be captured or some kind of treaty could be negotiated.

You're wrong. They're all Bretons, with one exception: That's the Orc from Cidna Mine.

Actually the essential tag was put in oblivion because once you give a character AI they can move, once they move thy can put themselves in danger. The devs didn't want Martin to get killed by a random daedroth. And in morrowind having the ability to break quest chains was amazing, if you ever did the TG you were REQUIRED to break the FG quest line. It actually required thought, not a, go here fetch this kill him now ur da ub3rg0d!!!11!1!1!!one. Some people enjoy having to make serious decisions in their games. Screw being the overlord of every faction, make it so some aren't even compatible.
