Amulet of Mara not working

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:58 pm

I tried proposing to Fasted in Ivarstead, but she dosent ask about the amulet. I know she's part of "the book of Love" but idc, what do I have to do to be able to propose to her? Besides killing off the two men trying to be with her?

Fastred is not available for marriage. Ever. "The Book of Love" quest has nothing to do with it.

If you're determined, the only option is using a console command - that is if you're on PC.

You can't propose to her, shes part of a quest (as you stated, the book of love) where you have to choose which person she marries, not everyone in the game is marryable.. (if thats even a word)

Marriable. Or marriageable. Both look extremely weird, but the're legit ;)

uggh... do most spouses do this, or can only a select few be followers to you. I love the idea of brining them along. Bethesda really dropped the ball with Skyrim marriage

There are only like, 30 eligible marriage candidates in the whole game, and only a small fraction of them can be followers (Aela comes to mind. Also I think a couple of the mercenaries and the housecarls). I agree about Skyrim marriage being bad. I'd rather there were longer courting and seduction quest chains that made finally getting married seem like an achievement, and a couple of perks that made it worth while. Then again, though, I'm not playing the Sims and don't care all that much. I'd rather Beth spent her time on other things.

still... the whole things is extremely glitchy, and barely worth doing when you think about it. I love how Beth made ALL the ugly NPC's marryable

They forgot about Grelod.
But look on the bright side - we have Sylgja!
And... we don't have Vex, Sapphire, Hroki, Ingun Black-Briar, Idgrod the Younger or any Khajiit or Bosmer... Scratch that, there's no bright side.

Speaking of this; my character has been wearing an amulet of mara all week w/o a single person responding to it. Do I really have to go to Riften and buy one instead of using the one I found on a corpse?

I don't think you have to buy one, but you have to speak with the priest of Mara about it first. Then, of course, you have to finish the quests/favors the possible spouses have in order for the dialogue to trigger.

Rather about 60. Around 30 of each six. Among those who are both spouses and followers are all members of the Companions, all hirelings and all the housecarls. And a few more.

The others, though... I planned for one of my characters to marry someone with a house, then discovered that almost all male houseowners, and quite a few of the others, look like they're at least in their 60's... Nothing wrong with a few older candidates, it might suit some, but one or two would have been enough. They could have given us male Redguards, and Altmer, and Bosmer and Khaijts instead. There are even some who have quests, and can be followers, but still you can't marry them. Why?!

You need to talk to Maramal about marriage.

I'm moving this to "hints" since it's a question about a specific quest-type thingy.

Here's a guide to who and how re marriage: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marriage
