Build problem

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:19 am

Ok so I had this great idea to make a Nord Mage specializing in illusion and frost spells
My skills will be illusion destruction enchanting alchemy sneak and speech,
My only problem is undead dungeons will be really hard, and dwarves ruins will literally be impossible because automations are COMPLETLY resistand to illusion and destruction.

Any ideas or help?

hmm ... well lightning, fire, enchanted bow. If you don't want any of those, I am at a loss.

I know it was more of a roleplaying thing me only using frost spells.
Well... My Nord may have to learn a new school and take a follower to those dungeons

Automatons are immune to frost. Fire and Shock still does pretty okay damage, just 25% less, since they have magic resistance. It's fine really.

It's funny how you are thinking of playing an ice mage in skyrim. So many things have resistance to frost. I use frost against fire dragons and fire atronachs. Everything else pretty much fire. Against mages, sometimes shock, but fire usually.

That's gonna' be your biggest hurdle.

I've heard that Illusion is weak-ish at lower levels, too.

Ehem. Perks.

Master of the Mind - Illusion spells work on undead, daedra and automatons.

Problem solved.

Ya at illusion lvl 90!!!

Edit: and I was trying to make this game harder, I'm not playing on master and actually illusion is very powerful so I think it should usually be fine, except the automations. Ive been wanting to play an ice Mage for a while now, one of the very few styles I haven't yet played

if illusion is your main skill and you hold off on ruins for a bit, it shouldn't be a problem

clear_throat_noise

You have to have Illusion at 90 so that's not exactly low level unless you spam Muffle et al to level it which many consider unnatural.
