The Biggest Problem For me In Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:51 pm

What you do dosn't affect the world.

Why would they take this out? It is needed for an RPG of this scope. In previous games I could be Champion of the Arena, Hero of Kavatch etc.

Some people would be racist, call me Breton Trash.

Now they don't care. I could play as a hated Kajhiit or Argonian and no one would care.

I can become a Member of the companions and be a member for a year in game and people still ask if I fetch the mead since I am a newbie.

The members will still send me on petty errands.

And all this is made even worse - because before release Todd Boasted about Radiant AI and Radiant Story.

Why would they lie about this?

Money moneyyyyy.
The release date was rushed. If they had pushed the release day...let's say a freaking year forward...we would have such a game that would be so epic that people would die infront of their tv's because they could not stop playing it.

You never had all that much of an effect on the world in previous titles either but it's true you have even less in Skyrim.

Does not matter the amount of the effect, the fact there is none to be had in Skyrim, aside from maybe the guards. It all comes down to, they worked on this game for numerous years and by the end just slacked off.

agree 100%. I want to have at least some remarks about my actions. I mean right now you can be head of every guild and save the world but you still get treated like a little errand boy.
I didnt even knew that it would have such a big impact on my gaming experience but at the moment im waiting till the CK comes out and a few mods are getting more fleshed out. a pity because I had over 500 hours in Oblivion on Xbox 360 so I didnt had mods to improve the experience

My biggest problem with Skyrim is the unacceptable number of bugs it has. Fortunately I play on the PC, so I have access to the console commands.

where do you get the idea the release date was rushed? they finished 1 month before the game was released, it is a finished game, and pushing a release date doesnt mean it will be better look at duke nukem

I know this is such a small speck in this ocean we are discussing ... but, I really really really do not enjoy how the Khajiit merchants don't recognize my Khajiit as a Khajiit. He already felt really out of place and that was pretty cool because it's more fun but when I first saw those merchants I really thought there would be some unique dialogue and maybe even some special quests for Khajiit characters.

I mean the guards know all kinds of dumb psychic stuff about me, like if I am over 30 in a skill (how do they know that anyway?) but another Khajiit in a far away land like Skyrim doesn't even have any unique dialogue for my sojourning tomcat? Lame-O.

Guards are the only people that respond to world events in any capacity. Everyone else is in a little bubble, oblivious to everthing.

The most irritating thing or me is how even after the War winning for the storm cloaks side there are still Imperials walking around with captured storm cloaks.

Playing devils advocate here, it would be very hard for everything you do to affect the world. Saying that, there should be more changes, not just the occasional sentence from a guard.

Add to it the fact that one of the central themes of the game is this "Skyrim is for the Nords!" racism and yet your character's race plays no role. I was playing an elf and one of the companions, talking about Ysgramor kicking the elves from Skyrim, said to me "So why are there still elves in Skyrim, eh?!!!" I'm like, dude, I'm an elf! And a Companion! And I'm standing right in front of you!

It's just utterly meaningless.

I think the vastness of the game has wowed people to the point of not seeing how weak the actual game is. A lot of people have put up a lot of valid points that let Skyrim down and for me the quests are so weak,

I can't be the only one who doesn't get caught up in the bugs. I just love being able to roam around free, doing what ever I like. THAT is what makes this game so much fun.

But I agree, Skyrim needs more impact from our choices. Although if they implemented this, then I think the number of quests would drop.

I`m getting to used to pre-release `white lies` now. And pay little attention to them. They did the same in Oblivion.

We are all tricked and deceived by publishing hype. I avoid buying games straight away due to this, so I`m not as dissappointed as some here are.

heck, I didn`t even buy this game, someone else got it for Christmas.

Maybe it's one of those plot twists. A lot of people disliked the whole "Oh jeeze, I'm the chosen one. Time to save the world ... again." Then it turns out none of it mattered.

Spoiler
Alduin, aha!

It's one of those reverse racisms. You're an honorary Nord now. Not an elf. So they're allowed to say it. Might even be one of those weak excuses like "Hey, it's not racist. One of my best friends (you) is an elf!"

They didnt lie, you just created a expectation for yourself from incomplete information then are claiming they lied becuase they didnt meet your expectation.

They definitely lied about the PC specific UI. I rented it for my xbox just to see the differences and aside from some smaller fonts they behave identically. They techinically didn't lie about the graphics being better or the same than the console version because Todd said that it would be way better at the one convention but earlier said that all platforms would be roughly the same. The PC version does look better but it certainly doesn't look even as good as games released back in 2008 like Farcry2. Even my STALKER CoP game looks better than skyrim and that was a crappy engine made with a low budget.

The shadows are bar none the worst looking shadows i have seen in any game period.

Having played the entire STALKER series, I can safely saying Skyrim on max > STALKER on Max.

STLAKER, especically the character models are ugly. The only thing it did well was god ray lighting effects.

that's why i specified STALKER CoP, the last one. :)

the lighting effects are superior, the textures are definitely superior, skybox is better, shadows are waaaay better, character movement is better albeit still a bit stiff, while skyrim's characters are much better than oblivions they are a far cry from being among the best i have seen. The areas I give skyrim the advantage are water and the mountains/LODs.

oh and rain doesnt go through ceilings like it still does in skyrim.

I think the more significant thing for this game is how almost no one cares you are something out of legend. You're the Dragonborn...something hat hasn't been seen since the last Septims died. Almost no one gives a dang about it and most people won't have any comment beyond "what was that?" when you use a shout near them. Guards get a bit impressed if they see you absorb a dragon's soul, but does the word spread through the town? Nope.

Heck, they seem to know more about my adventuring habits like picking locks than they do about me being a dragonborn. How do they hear all this information about me, but manage to not pick up what would undoubtedly be the most talked about fact?

Yeah thats why I stated the STALKER series, anyways Stalker CoP is not better graphicly then skyrim, with some of the mods for STALKER, maybe, but the default graphics were terrible.

And the fact that an Elf can join the Stormcloaks.

My friend joined as an Altmer. I told him how annoyed I was Bethesda did that, but he said it was To allow freedom for the gamer.

I'm all for freedom, but we have enough freedom in the game. Joining as an elf goes against the whole point of the quest line and is ridiculous.
