After Taking control of Whiterun

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:05 am

After taking control of Whiterun for the Stormcloaks I noticed that their is a dead body a few feet away from the smithing shop and his name is Brill. Everything else in Whiterun is restored except the dead body. Has this happened to anyone else or is this just an annoying glitch/bug?

Plus is Louis Letrush is glitching outside the horestables in Whiterun beacuse for me its like his riding a Horse but his glitched into the ground. Thats not all when I came back to Whiterun their were two of him then three but it has appeared to stop at three is anyway to fix this because I slapped him with a sword but his still around the place his not taking the hint that his not wanted.

I haven't noticed any glitching before in "post" Whiterun.

If you play in pc, you may try deleting the exceding brills using console. I had the same problem! And I do that.

Brill acts as a helper/servant for Vignar Grey-Mane in Jorrvaskr. If you take Whiterun for the Stormcloaks Brill is supposed to be the new Steward - I hope you already own Breezehome if you want it.

The Louis Letrush multiplicity thing is pretty common and I don't think there's a fix for it...unless 1.5 fixed it. :P

First time I've ever heard of Brill turning up dead.

He and Vignar and the new housecarl were all missing for quite a while after we took Whiterun this time around, I finally had to use moveto to find them and ended up in some kind of limbo that appeared to be an otherwise non-existent portion of Breezehome. I actually bought the house from him there, lol. Then they all calmly walked out one by one and went to Dragonsreach. I was so confused by the fact that I appeared to have been inside a place I couldn't have gotten into until I was actually there and received the key that I'm pretty sure I just reloaded and... I can't remember what happened after that. I think when I did they were finally in Dragonsreach that time and I was able to proceed normally and buy the house again from there.

It wasn't the Dead NPC Clean-Up Cell? :o

No, at least not the one I found Roggvir's headless body (and a very much alive, if almost nekked, Malborn) in. It was very clearly an interior cell of some building and by the design it looked like Whiterun. Everyone in there was someone who was still alive and should have still been playing an active role in the world at the time. From what I remember it was just the new members of the Dragonsreach court. They all had the normal interactions with me that I would expect, like I said I bought Breezehome from Brill while I was in there. After I interacted with them they all walked out a door, or up some stairs and out a door, I can't remember which... I thought maybe they were somewhere in Dragonsreach that I hadn't seen before. Seems like, though, that we passed through the front room of Breezehome on the way and when I followed them out the door the game loaded me onto the front stoop of Breezehome and they all were walking up towards Dragonsreach.

It was extremely weird.

I know, I just didn't think about it at the time. If I'd known how odd it was going to be I would've taken notes. :P

And I had waited days, even weeks of in-game time after the battle, going back to Whiterun every so often and running up to Dragonsreach to see if I could buy the house and get my Thane title back. And they were never there, and Vignar and Brill were never in Jorrvaskr either, that's why I got frustrated and used the console to locate them. It was like the game put them in some kind of holding pattern in an unavailable (to me) cell and then forgot to take them out until I finagled my way in there and "woke them up" by talking to them.
