Doomed Afterlife *Thieves Guild and Companions Spoilers*

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:11 pm

Anybody else find it a bit forceful that these two factions essentially bind your life to a different afterlife than typically expected? When Karliah asked me to take an oath to forever bind my spirit to Nocturnal in the afterlife, I kind went "...wait what? No." But I had to accept anyway.

Obviously the character's afterlife won't have impact ingame, but for people immersed in the game, and roleplayers like me, it's kind of a stab in the gut to say your character can no longer go to Sovngarde, The big hist in the sky, the Ancestors plains, etc.

Companions does a bit of the same thing with Werewolves, albeit that is reversable, so I'm not as stickler about that.

Anyway, anybody else agree this is kind of a jerk move by Bethesda?

Every daedric quest you do you basically sell your soul to that Prince. It's not that bad for me even for RPing purposes, because I actually want my character to be in the eternal hunt. I can see why it would make some people mad, though. Dunno if it's a jerk move.. because it's kinda your choice in the matter.. in a way.

Not really, considering you can't complete the Thieves Guild Questline without doing it. Although I suppose it's a choice of bind your soul, or don't complete the questline.

I'm also curious, Who would gain ownership of a Nightingale Werewolf? Hircine or Nocturnal?

Probably the more powerful one, which I believe is Nocturnal. But I've always wondered that myself. If you sell your soul to every Prince, which one gets it? Something to ponder.

'A jerk move' is bit over the top, but I agree with your sentiments. If I'd have to guess though, Sovngarde is more of a warrior heaven. If you are a thief.. might not be the place to be? Still, I agree. Binding your soul to a daedric prince is a bit much.

I completed all the daedric quests, faction questlines, the main quest, and even a few side-missions for the divines on one character. Where's my poor little khajiit going when he dies? :c

Nirn's equivalent of some weird, messed up Limbo-type place.

I have sold my soul to so many Deada and Aedra (all for a good reason mind you), that i imagine when i do die the gods will have an epic battle over who get the soul of the Dragonborn (however i like to think that ultimately i will reside in Sovngarde, hangind out with Shor, Talos and Akatosh and the rest of the divines, maybe i will become a god myself like Talos :D)

If I had to guesstimate, I assume the Dragonborn, having the soul of a Dragon, would go to whatever afterlife Dragons go to, and probably overpowers all princes.

I don't think the Daedric Princes would be all that happy that you'd tried to play them for fools. They'd probably tear your soul into little pieces, each taking a chunk to torment for eternity.

@Peryite: I had that exact same thought. "Wait my soul is going where?"

This makes the most sense.

Also, wouldn't this be more of a lore question?

My character has sold his soul to so many Daedric deities that he has been completely fragmented by the process, and is in a state akin to Voldermort's horcruxes. Am I annoyed by it? Not really, it's made my character go all psychotic which was my aim anyway. Would I be annoyed if it happened to another, less fragmented character? Probably. I can see where people are coming from; perhaps there should be some quest to safeguard your soul?

Having said that, as vampires are immortal I don't intend to die anyway; I like to think my Oblivion Dark Elf vampire is still blending in with the aristocracy of Cyrodil whilst my Dragonborn goes around killing people in Skyrim, 200 years later.

I can bet my money, that this problem will solve itself when Beth sooner or later make Dragonborn a god or....

You can become a Vampire (Lord) and become inmortal ! Every Daedra and Aedra would be trolled.
