Trying to place items on shelves and tables etc..

Easy and good in Oblivion. Pathetic in Skyrim. I have enjoyed this game immensely so far but the item placement is a DISGRACE!!!!

I know, I wanted to decorate my house with all the stuff i looted from dungeons, I love collecting those Gyro thingies from the dwarven centurions and other dwemer artifacts, also the bugs in jars and dibella statues. But the placement is so horrible and every time i re-enter my house they're on the floor. I'm like: "WTF it took me 10 minutes to get it to the position i wanted!"

MY feng shui is all screwed up! Thanks Bethesda!

Yeah, a lot of people have been complaining about this issue. I'm wondering if they'll address it in future patches, I have a feeling they will.

I posted this in another thread, it fits here too:

One issue that does happen is the game resets the "Clutter" after a period of time. You can see this if you knock a food item or plate on the floor. After a period of time, it will be back where it was. What happens is, the clutter being put back can knock off other things that you put on the shelf or table.

I don't know happens if you just remove the clutter, say putting it in a container. That might reduce the game's tendency to move things around in your house.

That is not true for me, i took everything off the shelf, sold it in a shop and the dragon claws sometimes are all on the floor when i come back. Nothing is in their place, they have just flew off the shelf for no apparent reason.

Trying to get the dragon claws lined up on a shelf all facing the correct way is VERY frustrating and difficult, and when i come back and they are all over the floor, yes EXTREMELY frustrating.

The bust of Grey Fox (or whatever he's called) is impossible to place anywhere along with the other special items from the Thieves Guild showcase shelves. Im wondering if its deliberate so you dont nick them for yourself.
The Honningbrew Decanter has vanished behind a packing case in Breezehome, The jeweled Dibella keeps moving down to the celler of Honeyside from the cupboard at the foot of the bed on ground floor, also when you place any of them they are never stable or stand straight.
I had Items sometimes re appear in the spot you droped them before placing them on display but i found that saving after any placements puts an end to that.

I spent so much time setting up my house, then I left to do some adventuring. When I came back, it was as if my house was flipped upside down.

I don't know what law of physics is playing a role in this, but it's incredibly annoying.

Props to the bookshelf system, that's certainly an improvement over Oblivion, BUT WHY CAN'T WE HAVE BOTH?

God I can't understand sometimes! :swear:

Dropping an item in your house (not something originally located in your house since they seem to reset eventually regardless) leave and re-enter, and you should be able to place things so that they stay and don't just pop back to where you dropped them initially.

Placing items, ugh... is indeed a pain, but at least with this method the damn things will stay put, most of the time.

I found it annoying and pointless in both games.

In Breezehome, that single rabbit leg will forever be on the floor, no matter where I put it.

A SHAMFUL DISPRAY!

Ok, though. It is freaking hard to place items in Skyrim, but Oblivion wasn't much better IMO. Morrowind on the other hand was pretty darn easy. I would like an option to switch from manual placement like in Morrowind, and a more complex placement method like in Oblivion.

it really svck's because my khajiit loves hunting with his claws, and when he comes back with 18 venison he likes to stock pile it on the table ( like in oblivion ) amung the human flesh, human hearts and raw beet.

What I wish you could do is pick things up and throw them, like in Deus Ex.

I removed alot of the clutter from the small tables and stone hearth things, in the area between the bedrooms in the Markarth house. Saved, went adventuring with the housecarl ( can't remember his name Argis?). I either sold the stuff or stored it elsewhere.

We were gone about 1 game week, everything was still cleared. So put the glowing eyed key skulls on the stone hearth, one of the Dibella statues on a table and 2 claws on small dresser.

Saved, went adventuring for about a game week, came back and everything was were I put it.

We'll see if it actually stays their!! lol
