Strange Character Idea

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:02 am

Okay, I want a lot of creativity from you guys, that's why I'm posting here ;)

So the idea here is to create a character that is kind of a combination between a Bard and Robin Hood, however with no combat. Bard by day, Theif by night. No combat skills, and no use of weapons aside from your fists. To make things more realistic, you may not save other than autosaves. Whatever happens, happens. This means that if you are caught stealing or pickpocketing, you must face the consequences.

Skills:
Speech (big one)
Sneak
Pickpocket
Lockpick
Smithing? (Make jewelry for money)

Maybe:
Illusion
Alteration
Restoration
Block? (not actually combat, but combined with fists may give him a chance)

The goal is to spend the day as a wealthy, like-able, sharp tongued Bard. Preferring to settle disputes with his words, but not above resorting to a brawl, he can talk his way out of almost any bind.
At night, however, he shows his true colors. A thief, who is very good at what he does. Wonder how he is so wealthy for just a simple bard? Well here is your answer. He is not selfish, however. He knows kindness and as such, gives to the poor whenever possible.

It will be a different Skyrim experience. Hopefully will let you see the other parts of Skyrim outside of combat and qudesting.

This is all I have so far, hope you enjoy and I look forward to seeing your ideas.

I believe you can't use Block with your fists. Mages that don't use weapons are dime a dozen, but if I was going to make a character who fought with his fists I would probably go for every possible bonus you can get to unarmed damage (which is about three things).

The main problem I can see is that speech checks are not common, and like all TES games dialog doesn't branch that much. Also the Bard's College is very thin. Where this might work is if someone modded in playing an instrument so that it gave illusion effects.

Not mage, only illusion and maybe alteration. The point is just to distract them long enough to get away, not to fight. I will try to avoid fighting whenever possible. The fists are only for brawls.

It's more a roleplay then to actually be a bard. It's to see parts of the game outside of combat. Just making money by stealing at night, while spending the day as a lovable bard.
