Skyrim DLC Theory and Suggestions

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:46 am

WARNING CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS!

Ok, I noticed that there are a number of hints of what one DLC will be. The war with the Thalmor will start again. It will only be able to be started if you complete the civil war missions. It is unclear if the DLC will take you to a new county but i can not image the DLC not taking you to the Summerset Isles. How can you win a war if you do not invade your enemies capitol?

How do I know this will be a DLC? A number of lines both General Tullius and Jarl Ulfric say during and at the end of the Civil War quests. Ulfric's Plan: 1.Break from the empire 2.Invade Summerset Isles. Also General Tullius at the end of the quest chain says something close to "I have a feeling we will be needing your help again very soon but for now the gods have a different destiny for you.".

Another hint to a Thalmor war DLC: The Thalmor Dossiers in the thalmor embassy suggest that they are preparing to make a final blow for the empire soon. Also you never got to kill the leader of the Thalmor embassy which most likely means she will be reappearing in this DLC if it happens.

DLC Suggestions and Ideas: Todd Howard said they don't know what they will do for DLC's, but i have no doubt that he has some comprehension of what they will be.

However, in case they really do need ideas I would like to share one which fits in the story AND brings back a number of popular relics from one of Oblivion's past DLC. I am suggesting a return of the Knights of the Nine. Now hear me out before you judge me. Here's the story...

Cyrodiil is in ruins the Knights of the Nine are being hunted by the Thalmor for worship of Talos. They hear rumors that Skyrim allows free worship of Talos and plan to take the relics there for safe keeping. When they arrive they find the Thalmor still have a pressence in Skyrim and though it is not as strong as that in cyrodiil they still decide to split the relics and go into hiding each one hiding a relic in there own way creating tests for a knight strong enough to carry them against this new threat to the Nine Divine, all the while the Thalmor hunt the Knights down one by one but are unable to locate the relics that had hid. Until only one Knight remains. That's when you come in. You are approached by one of the Thalmor looking for the last of the Knights and offers you a reward for his finding. Which unknown to the agent, that you will become his ultimate down fall. Which you then tract down the Knight to a new hidden stronghold which the knights built in the past years before splitting up. upon entering you find the Knight and the true quest begins.

Ill leave Bethesda up to the rest of the story to do and change as they please.

I think this is a very doable DLC and fits the story perfectly. It even sticks to the lore and legacy of the Divine Crusader Pelinal Whitestrake the bane of elven kind if i am not mistaken. It would also bring back the very popular Crusader's relics in a new way that makes sense. What do you think?

It will be some time before DLC .....BUT, I like your ideas.....Better yet, to add to what you have written here.....My true hope is that they will really expand not just the civil war, but incorporate the existing factions (companions maybe, mage guild, thieves guild, etc...) to take part in some way to this ......

I personally would like to see DLC with additional content surrounding a new city, or town in the game with an ADDED faction that has its own agendas either FOR or against civil rivalries or the like.

Knights of the Nine was good......not great...but good.

One idea for a powerfull entity that arises in Skyrim: a powerfull wizard or dragonpriest who rises to power in a huge dungeon who has ties with a conspiracy (dragons/ empire).....don't want to spoil here.

Nice post.

Thanks, and as for my idea. I leave it up to Bethesda to make it great i only gave them the idea and the skeleton of the story of which they can shape around. If they like it great! if they want to change it, that's cool too. and if they don't like it...well im sure they have their reasons may be it conflicts with another better idea that they have but i just felt that i needed to make my idea heard.

I've always thought it would be a return to Solstheim.

Doubtless, there would've been an exodus of men and mer from Morrowind to anywhere they could get to. It must be quite active and densely populated* by now.

I don't like the second one but the first one seems iminate..

But maybe the first one won't be a DLC but a game.. I have some theories on this part.. Bethesda said they will not be doing anymore games on consoles intill new ones come out.. This means PC only... But why would they do that you say? If Bethesda makes The Great War II like little skirmishes it will be crap... So they will have armies and graphics will be improved and same with lighting.. Lets say their were 150 Thalmor and then 100 Imperials.. Lets say all the Thalmor conjure fire and all the imperials are swinging their sword.. That would crash or lagg the game SEVERLY on the Consoles.. Lets take a game Like Shogun II... The game looks like it has great graphics but if you go close it doesn't look nearly as good as Skyrim.. Now imagine Shogun II with all the detail of Skyrim with a less army scale and with Bethesda Point of View.. Would be awesome

I will not provide any links.. So if your unsure about the thing I said at first.. Then look it up yourself please..

Except for the fact that Todd Howard said that ALL the DLC's for Skyrim are going to be huge and ALL will have the feel of an expansion pack. Most likely meaning there will be numerous expansion packs, not little DLC's for this game. and due to the high tension of the Thalmor and Empire i find it EXTREMELY hard to believe they won't do at least one of those expansions on the Thalmor.

But i do agree that I would LOVE to see a game with massive armies and good graphics clashing with each other in first/third person veiw. THAT WON'T lag. I hope the next gen console will allow this to happen. But i can not see the elder scrolls devs ALREADY thinking about what their next game will be. Unless thats Fallout 4 of coarse...

I agree that this will possibly be another future DLC as well. But I don't have a clue as to what the story might be like.

I want to free Vivec from the Daedra rumored to have taken him in Oblivion. It would likely be Azura due to their history in Morrowind, but I'd rather see Herma Mora's Apocrypha.

I never heard that rumor. Also I can't see it making much sense in Skyrim. But we'll see.

War with Thalmor DLC would be fine. But PLEASE no Dwemer dlc or return to Vvardenfell/Solstheim dlc!! This is not COD. Do not repeat what you have already done. And about Elenwen, this is weird, but get this:
So I was walking on the road to the Thalmor Embassy (already done the MQ) and I see someone dead on the road with a dead bear next to them. I go up to it and the dead body is a naked Elenwen dead, next to a dead bear. Wtf?

I would love to see a return of the Crusaders Relics and Chrysmayre.
The game needs more "Paladin".

The return of the King Of Worms who launches a surprise acttack on the Thalmor to wipe them out with plague and disease transforming their homeland into a wasteland of death where the King Of Worms reanimates their corpses into a necromantic slave empire to threaten all of Tamriel or keep a secret balance of power in the lands. This may stir up ghosts from the past with Ayelid or Dwemer rumblings. Perhaps all of Nirn shall be turned into a graveyard world after some apocalyptic planetary war which has the survivors leaving to other planes which possibly might be one of the planets seen in the night time skies in most of the Elder Scrolls series.

I would like something involving the Psijic Order and the Isle of Artaeum. It could be a good way to get better robes and spells into the main game.

Good idea. I for one would like to see a DLC involving a continuation of the Dark Brotherhood quest line as well as possibly an expansion on the idea of the Thalmor-Man war erupting again with the crusader relics... all of the factions have to band together as the Thalmor invade Skyrim to try and slay the Dovahkiin, since he is the most powerful person in Skyrim, and try to restore order while sabotaging the Empire and Skryim. Mage's Guild, the Companions, Psiijic Order, the Blades, the Greybeards, the surviving Stormcloak/Imperial soldiers and the cities... all have to withstand large sieges and attacks orchestrated on them as the Thalmor launch new attacks. Maybe ending with a climatic battle with any surviving dragons (Parthuurnax and any allies he has) joining the side as the leaders of the Thalmor are brought down by the combined forces...

A little unrealistic? Maybe. It would be really interesting though.

Ooo nice and could be eerily mysterious in a Battlespire kind of way entering a place totally alien and wondrously nightmarishly magical.

I want to see more of the Thalmor and Falmer. The two things I would like to see is having a farmhouse and having children or adopting them in Riften
