Screenshot Question

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:00 am

I hope this is the correct location for a question of this nature, but...

I'd just love to discover a way to change the default location that screenshots are saved. I don't use the steam F12 version because, well, I hate steam and whatnot. Is there any way to specify a target folder when using the good ol' Print Screen button? Having the screenshots dumped unceremoniously into the main Skyrim folder, along with all of the other files that are strewn about, is sort of a pet peeve.

On a somewhat related topic, could anyone explain what the SkyrimPrefs.cfg line "iScreenShotIndex" controls, and what the number you set it to actually equates to? I've always felt that this could be something along the track of choosing where your SSs are saved to, though I suspect that it really has nothing to do with that. I'd love to find out!

Thanks for your time!

Which is one of the reasons I dislike the Steam way. I know I've taken the shots, I don't need to be told twice or bothered with extra pop-ups and notifications. That may sound strange...ionno, I've just always hated Steam and find it annoying O_o. I just want to take default screenshots, but have them actually save to a folder named...Screenshots? I just don't get why it wouldn't do that automatically, and seems like such a simple and obvious thing to overlook.

There probably isn't a way to make that happen, but I'd like to at least see if anyone else has any ideas.

I don't understand your problem, Steam does what you want, so what if it pops up after you exit the game, all that is doing is giving you the chance to save them to the cloud and is that really such a bad thing??

  • Follow this directory path:
  • Program files
  • Steam
  • Steamapps
  • Common
  • skyrim
  • Screens should be in here in the same directory as your game DATA files
  • Note: Use your keyboard Print Screen key and not F12
