In the quest of the dark brotherhood Aventus Aretino does the black sacrement.
But how did astrid know that?
Because the night mother only knows where the black sacrement is preformed and she tells it to the listener.

Same can be said after you join them and astrid tells you to meet people for jobs. At one point you meet a guy in cave that preformed the ritual before you become listener.

She eventually finds out through rumours and talk then she goes to find and seek that person out, similar to how the player finds out.

Have you actually played the quest? Rumors are how the DB operate these days..they heard a rumor that Arentino was performing the black sacrement. The night mother had nothing to do with it.

It's quite difficult to play the game for any length of time without hearing about it. The whole of Skyrim is talking about it. For some inexplicable reason. And leaving this runaway child to get on with it. For some inexplicable reason. Until you murder someone because a child offrered you a plate. If the Dark Brotherhood pick up contracts from hearsay, they cannot miss this particular one.

Am I the only one who thinks that particular quest is embarrassingly bad and makes no sense whatsoever?
