I tried to buy the Windhelm house but couldn't, I tried to start the Blood of the Ice quest, but I can't. I've already been inside the Windhelm house by stealing the key and I've already found out who the butcher is by finding the chest in his house. Now I can't start the quest and I can't but the house. I don't have a save to reload either.
Help?

You might've broken the quest by stealing the key, which I didn't think was possible. Consequences!

Look up the quest on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim and it will give you some options.

Yeah I have the same problem. I followed the instructions to begin the stupid quest, wasting all that time to do so, it doesn't trigger. I entered the house when i found the suicided person upstares in another house. That quest is bugged as hell.

Two play throughs and i haven't experienced any Blood on the Ice glitches or Hjerim glitches (except the clean-up one on the first play through). Both times I had to wait until after the civil war questline was done, and suddenly they started asking me to be Thane and buy a house. Not sure if this is normal, but it has been for me so far.

I started the "Blood on the Ice" quest, but got to the part where I need to examine the crime seen but can not find anything on the bloody block. I'm guessing I'm looking for somethin really small, but I've moved cursor all over the block to no avail
