I would firstly before beginning this narrative feel inclined to informally introduce myself. My name is Svingandir Hammerh?nd, I am a retired priest and renowned chronicler that has dedicated my life to the study of past greats and the blessed divines. I will be contemplating my accounts of the Nord leader Ulfrik Stormcloak and write in detail about his background, attitudes and beliefs, views, competencies, motives, attitudes and personality. I intend to set down the events of his life in chronological order and the motives, attitudes and beliefs as well as his own personal take on what has lead to the current state of Civil War that has befalled upon the land of Skyrim. I swear by the luminous enlightenment of Julianos, god of wisdom and logic to be faithful to be subservient to the truth and uphold his tenets. My chronicle on the events befalling the current state of Ulfrik Stormcloak and Skyrim will be ongoing and may be refined should new knowledge arise about the man himself.

I was granted entry to access to the Elder Scrolls Library archives earlier this day in my search to compile my narrative regarding Ulfric Stormcloak. As I was being taken to the archives the Ancestor Moth Prelate escorting me inquired as to why I was visiting the palace. As I told her about my subject she led me to her superior whom apparently had dossier regarding Ulfric's military service during the Great War. Here is the research I compiled through the studying of the tome given to me:
Ulfric Stormcloak was an Imperial soldier during the events of the Great War, possibly serving as a legate or tribune given that he was the son of the Jarl of Windhelm. He served in the defence of Cyrodiil against the Aldmeri invasion led by Lord Naarfin but was captured and held prisoner. This most probably during the Thalmor advance towards the Imperial City and most likely after both Bravil and Anvil fell. Some time after the Imperial City had fallen Ulfric Stormcloak managed to escape (or was freed) from his Thalmor captors. The events leading upto the 'Markarth Incident' after his break-out are as of yet unknown though it is likely that he rejoined with the Imperial Legion and continued to serve until the end of the war.
