The Action button on the controller. X on PS3, A on Xbox.

Edit : You have to hold the button until it picks up the items instead of placing it in your inventory.

Once you've placed the items via the A button, you need to exit and enter the cell because often items end up on the floor of their own accord. You may need to place them several times.

the lack of the ability to manipulate objects in the game and for them to actually stay there is a huge embarrassment for beth, especially, since they already implemented a great system in past games.

This should only happen once though, the next changes should stick.

Yeah I found that odd, I tried putting things in my house and they end up in weird locations.
But oddly enough - when you go into dungeons and move things or kill bandits and have them in weird places - that is remembered - even in the most unusual places or what I'd think would be difficult (like hunched in a chair, or floating in water).

But I can't put my favourite flower where I want it. Fallout 3 remembered things really well.

Make sure you remove the "clutter" from where ever it is you are going to be putting the Item. Store it or sell it.

I remove the clutter, save, go do something ingame for a while, come back an put the items where I want, save again... so far nothing has moved.

I just really don't like all the clutter anyway.

It doesn't necessarilly stick.

I have an ancient nord helment that took me four or five goes to get to stay on a shelf, which it now does, but the Dwemer bowl that stayed there for ages now relocates itself around my house every so often. Pluse I have a blades sword that seems to like wandering around as well.

i tend to clean house when i move in, sell all the junk make money. Iam trying to put a moth in a jar on a shelf and can not get it to sit right it will only lay on the side. what a pain. we need it like in Fallout where you picked it up where you point to. i use to drag the bodies all over the place.

what would be nice is something like the weapons rack and book shelf. where you activate to put the item. need something like that for the shelfs.
