Who's Good? Who's Evil?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:14 am

So I'm playing off a previous post here. There was a post about our opinions on whether you would be "evil" and join the Dark Brotherhood for the easy money, knowing your are evil. Many posted that it depended on their charachter based on wheather he was a guy/gal that would do something like that.

On the same note, do you find that the Stormcloaks are evil? Is the Empire evil? Are either of them one or the other, or are they both good or both evil? Please share your thoughts.

For me, I have struggled with deciding on the two. I through the Blades in with the Empire and find them both to be fairly bad, but find the Stormcloaks to be overly onsided as far as the whole "Skyrim for the Nords" type mentality. After speaking with many of the Stormcloaks and hearing their stories and ideas, it seems like they have an undlying hostility to non-Nords, but are not against any race individual of any particular race as long as they take up arms against the Empire.

The Empire on the other hand seems to embody a very tyranical state that is enforcing religious opression, but does not have the "racial" temperment like the Stormcloaks. Throwing the Blades in with them, they are an ancient military arm of the Empire, a type of black ops group almost as far as their role in the war after the Oblivion timeline. They seem like the Crusaiders who just blinly took orders, and slaughtered man, elf, and dragon in the name of some faint grasp at honor and rightousness. This to me makes them evil.

So for me, who's evil, both are. I just joined the Stormcloaks last night and I am hoping I have an option to highjack the rebellion, knock-off Ulfric and make Skyrim a free place for all. Other than that, I just want to kill off the Thalmer, because they are as bad as the Empire, worse really.

Elder Scrolls tend to shy away from concrete good/evil labels. It's all various grays, and depends on where you're standing.

Yeah, my duality of the various factions has been a common theme for me playing the last 3 titles.

Completionist- Everything is part of my grand scheme, whilst it may have noble intentions, my methods may not be.

The Lore Nazi in me says Stormcloaks are the "good" choice for the Civil War, because Talos worship and a Snow Throat reinforcing unified Skyrim act to prevent the Thalmor from dismantling Creation.

There is no black and white; it's all shades of gray. But I went with the Stormcoaks.

No swearing allegiance to puffed up warmongers if it can be avoided, no Thieves' Guild, Dark Brotherhood or even Companions, let yer man destroy yer one's staff, won't even do some Daedric quests, no murders except Thalmor agents, no pickpocketing, favourite quest was spreading the luurve. Now where did my character put that halo?

The game's good and evil don't even exist. It's all opinion.

Opinions are like trash, there's alot and you have to sort through it.

Molag Bal is the most innocent character in the game. Brunwulf Free Winter is Hitler Incarnate
