The Thalmor and The Septim

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:52 am

The Thalmor have a huge problem with the Septim Dynasty, Talos in particular. They refuse to believe a man could descend to the heavens and become a Divine. Anyone who knows the lore of Tamerial will know the Thalmor are full of it and of course, Talos is a Divine.

The Thalmor are doing what they can to ensure Talos is not being worshipped, but at the same time, it seems like they are trying to remove Talos completely as if he never existed. This of course is going to be a hard and long task, which I doubt they will succeed.

We do not know the specifics of the White Gold Concordat. The only thing we are aware of is Talos is no longer a Divine and The Thalmor are permitted to enforce this upon the populace.

This got me thinking, what will happen to the Septim Coin?

On one side is a picture of Talos (Tiber Septim) and the other side is a picture of Akatosh. With the picture of Akatosh it says “Praise be Akatosh and all the Divines.” The coin does not say Talos is a Divine but he does share the coin with a Divine as if he would share the heavens with them.

I am wondering if the Thalmor plan to ask for a new coin to be minted without Talos on it and depict something else. Granted the Thalmor may not get that far, but you never know nor what was in the W.G.C.

OK, discuss away….

An interesting thought. My bets on that they switch out Talos for M'aiq.

well, on the Septim coin, it is Tiber Septim, the first Emperor, not Talos, the God. So, seeing as their beef is with Talos, the god not the emperor, I don't see why they would change it

Except for Phynaster, Syrabane, Trinimac, Mannimarco.. :whistling:
Though they are ancestor-gods, not divines, so maybe they actually are jealous..

The Altmer are long lived, they like order and constancy. The Empire follow them in this to a degree, all their institutions and dynasties, the Nords being mercurial by comparison. Apart from the removal of Talos, and their waging of war, both being to help accomplish their designs on the Mythic, would they not see something such as the use of the same currency part of the permanence they so admire? Just my opinion, but seems they would change what needs to change to further their goals, and leave anything else carrying on the same way it always has. Perhaps. Maybe.
