what Would be so cool if they had a quest called, Arrow to the Knee. I mean, bare with me.
this is what i was thinking:
A quest arrives, and the Jarl of whiterun has summoned you. You and another important hero are quested to find and retrieve and protect a holy virgin priestess. Along the way, you fight undeads, skeletons, undead wolfs, and vampiric-bandit-mages. After a 3-4 hour of long questing and fighting, you and this other important hero has become quit acquitted with one another.
you two are friends. you two are blood brothers. you two are warriors of the battlefield, fated to stand back to back and fight enemies until none stands before you and your heroic friend. You two are heroes, and will die for one another.
Finally, u two reached the priestess, thinking, this is it; you two made it. All that's left is to escort this virgin priestess out of the dungeon and to the jarl of whiterun, and you and your new best friend can finally enjoy some fine black-briar mead in front of a flaming hot fire pit.
Then all of sudden, AMBUSH! nordic undeads raises out from their coffins, skeleton archers breaks themselves from the rocky walls that imprisoned them, undead werewolves jumps down from the ceilings of the tall dark dungeon, and vampire mages summons ghastly ghosts to halt your companion and you.
you two stand your grounds while the priestess castes what supportive holy spells she has, and wave after waves, health potions after health potions - everything finally came to a dark and eerie silence. everything is dead except for you three.
You three cautiously walked down the stone steps, aiming your eyes at the lowly lit entrance of were your heroic friend and you first entered from. "Take the priestess and go forth my friend while i bare our back-ends!", your friend said. So you do as he say, and as soon as you and the priestess's foot crosses onto the lowly dim light of the entrance, a skeleton archer rises from a pile of bones you two had accumulated over the course of the earlier battle. Your friend spots the meatless archer as it swiftly shoots an arrow.
while u and the priestess are unaware, your heroic friend yells out "Down!" and pushes the priestess and you onto the floor. As that happened, the demonic dungeon shakes in rage, summoning more monstrous beings. Your friend, at the foot of the entrance, looks at you and the priestess before him with his blood-shot eyes. You notice he staggers to get up as the an arrow lodged itself deeply into his knee cap.
without so much as a word, those eyes spoke to you saying, "Farewell my friend, its been more than an honor". you knew what he was about to do, and you desperately try to leap forward to grabbed him as monsters behind him were closing in. Too late! He has pulled down the chain-lever, closing the gate that separates the low-lit light from the dark mysterious shadowy alter.
Your friend looks at you and the priestess once more, to reassure you that everything will be okay. Then he turns around and roars out a battle cry, equipping himself with an axe and a sword in one hand each, facing all of the abominations that were only a few feet away.
As you hold onto the iron door bars, you see your friend charging towards the demonic beings, being swallowed up in the darkness. Knowing full well that this was the way he wanted to go out, you grabbed the priestess and escorted her out to safety, and into the castle walls of whiterun. Your mission is finally completed, yet your lost a war-brother in the end.
To this very day, you wondered, "what if he is still alive?" Knowing him, he was tougher than five of the mightiest dragons that roamed in skyrim combined! The jarl even remissness about the time when your friend took on 50 of the toughest bards in all of skyrim as they held his empty casket funeral! But even so, he was still a mortal.
As year passes by while you explore the wonders of skyrim, questing, looting, and slaying dragons, you faintly hear of a rumor... about a guard... who sometimes will say to wondering adventurers like yourself... "I once was an adventurer like you, but I took an arrow to the knee".
You grinned to that rumor and knew what you have to do next...
