Climbing and general vertical movement, like hanging from an edge, would've spiced up some of the stealth missions. Not that I'm really complaining though.
they sure as heck need SOMETHING to stop the spiderman syndrome of players being able to hop and run up virtually anything. maybe daggerfall didnt do it in the best way, but you cant just drop the concept entirely then leave the whole game world open to horrible exploitation of the physics engine. some consideration needs to be paid to the fact that most people that have been incarcerated in medieval prisons for some length of time with no outstanding skills or abilities at the time of release cannot scale 80 degree inclines by stubbornly hopping around like a hyperactive flea.
they really need to take "go anywhere, do anything" far less literally. my interpretation of that mantra is that the game isnt going to grab your wrist like an overprotective mother whenever you try to do something it doesnt like, not "use the jump button to reach every possible surface in the overworld regardless of physical plausibility".
Yeah, it frustrates me to hell when a dragon keeps landing on the roofs of a town. I'm a melee player so all I can do is stand there and stare at it sitting up there. If I could climb onto the roof, problem solved.
