The "Kill/Make/Do XXX number of things" are the stupidest ideas for achievements as they take no skill nor effort to actually do. Just play the game and they will be completed eventually.

Absorbing 1000 Dragon Souls? That's a little much isn't it? I have 200 hours so far and I've only absorbed 90..

If you add armor rating to regular clothing then you nullify mage perks for not wearing armor. Some of us don't want to wear the standard mage robes and use clothing instead ...

I think achievements are pretty useless in single-player sandbox games.

No offence, but some 4 year old (who shouldn't be playing the game anyway) doesn't mean squat to me. I couldn't care less about achievements, and call me selfish, but I don't want the game changed just so you can see that little glimmer of happiness in your grandsons eyes for 2 seconds, then its back to reality.

Achievements have a short lived "wow" factor, then its gone and you realize you wasted so much time doing pointless tasks for nothing. No thanks.

This game includes decapitations and rotting corpses trying to kill you.
He could play any number of other games if he likes seeing things flash up on the screen, most of them more age appropriate.

360 ONLY????

*rips water fountain from wall*

PC, OnLive, and the iPhone/iPad have achievements as well. PS3 has the trophy system, which is identical except with the distinction of a level system and a trophy count, as opposed to a point total. As for the ideas, I would be against them, especially the "online" ones. And, as far as I understand, there is a cap on the amount of achievement points that can be earned on a single game, and I imagine that any spare space would be used on the various DLC that will be released.

I don't get achievements.

Every so often something pops up in the corner of my screen to say I've "achieved" something. To me, the "achievement" resides in whether I'm enjoying the game. I'm not interested in doing something just because Steam says I've "achieved" something. I'm not playing it to win medals.

It is irresponsible to ignore ratings that explicitly say not to let children under 15 to play a game.
No-one is judging you but the ratings system is there for a reason

Just my opinion, but I think the achievement system that is already their is more than enough. Any line of code is going to take up space on the disc, I'd much rather they use those "line spaces" for better dialouge, another quest, better horse mechanics ,more kinds of armor, heck another bookself in Breezehome!

DOES ANYONE FRICKING READ THE DAMN RATING ON THOSE FRICKING GAMES!!!!!

Ive been on this crap for three years, Apparently You sir, http://www.gamesas.com/user/777432-thevikkster/ is a plain Example of horrible parenting.
AND then they ask why are kids are so Fricking messed up.
HERE is your example,
this is the only thing that peeves me off to no end, rated M games are for people 17+ and up, not for damn 4 year olds,
thats how kids these days become violent before they hit 9 years old.
Damn fricking parents.

I was only given kid games, till i hit 18 years old.
Mario, Zelda hell banjo for christ sake.
RATED M GAMES ARENT FOR SMALL CHILDREN.

No link between violent video games and violent behaviors has ever been found. So much so that it has even been ruled that states could not restrict the sales of M rated games to minors. The ratings are optional anyway. No developer is required to get one. It just helps sales to do so.

@OP: What you let the kid play is up to you, but you shouldnt request a game be changed just so you can see a tiny sparcle in his eyes for a few seconds. Its basically a slap in the face to the rest of us. Now you may not care what we think, but look at it from our perspective and understand where we are comming from. There are many other games out there with achievements to choose from. Try some of them.

Violent video games don't screw you up, nor make you violent. It doesn't happen. It's a myth made up by soccer moms.

While that is true and you are right, it's irrelevant. People like him who let little kids play things like this are the ones who inspire those soccer moms to baww about how bad video games are. The last thing that gamers really need is the rating system getting even more jacked up and unequal than it already is.

first. Im not a dude. Im a dudette.
Second, I started raging when my professor brought up the topic, that it does bring out violent in younger children, he showed us very well examples.
lets pretend, that game, the bully.
If younger kids played it, they would put it in thier minds that there is no consequence to actually bullying.
i cant be the only one here who thinks this.
and I have no life.
Thank you.
My life is university and Xbox.
Im happy with it.
