water in skyrim

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:01 pm

Why is that in skyrim you swim and dive to the murky depths of a lake looking for ship. chest, barnickles etc... but when exit the lake, river or ocean. You are dry like you were sittin in the hot sun baking like a potato.. im is that hard to make the caracter to look wet. I mean now a days all game have that little detail in em like red dead, assasins creed, uncarted even crap games like lord of the rings war in the north. anyone else feel that it seems like something is missing when it comes to waters of skyrim?

Well, it would be nice to have this feature but honestly of all the things Skyrim could/should have done better, this is pretty low on my list.

I never thought of that.
I don't have a problem with it but I guess a small "soaked kitty with water running from the whiskers"-animation could be nice when you exit the wet stuff.

Why do I feel dirty after writing that?

I think it would be cool to actually get wet when you come out of the water, but I'd guess the reason it isn't in Skyrim is because Bethesda wants to spend their time on making the more important things as good as possible. I'm sure a mod will add it eventually.

this is hardly noticable at all, the first part at least, but i do agee that skyrim's water is lacking, maybe some weresharks would be nice (or any sea life for that matter)

IMO its unnecessary. Thats like asking why my character doesn't get frostbite every time he spends more than a minute in the water or how come the weather (snow, rain, etc) doesn't affect my character at all.

When you play in 1st person, you don`t notice such things. I infact only noticed that when I go underwater and pop up, I give a gasp of air from coming out the water, which I found immersive.

I would very much like water effects on the player and horses, as well as cloth and hair physics. Here's hope for TES VI maybe Bethesda can put the next hardware to better use.

It would be fun to have a Khajiit animation where you shake dry!

Yeah, that was weird at first to me too, though slaughterfish in Skyrim don't hardly even do any damage, it seems.

You can. Get them to chase you into the shallows and punch away.

I'd like to be able to pick the dead slaughterfish up and use it as a melee weapon.
